Alexander Hamilton - The Federalist Papers

"[A] dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidding appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people, commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants.'

So very true! Beware those who preach "for the greater good" for they are the ones who want to rule. Likewise beware those who demean the US Constitution as a document written by dead white guys because they would impose their rules on you once the Bill of Rights has been weakened or replaced.

  1. The founding fathers were an interesting combination of intellect, courage and skills. The collective efforts of this disparate group put the country on the right path. I hope we can keep it going,

  2. It could be argued that the Founding Fathers were more intellectually adept and courageous than all the leaders in the country since. Though I am partial to Teddy Roosevelt's opinion that Jefferson was an awful President.
