Morgan Housel on the importance of studying history.
Seems the study of history in our society is something now done on the individual level. The ignorance of history in our society today is stunning which is how we end up with protestors taking down statutes of Thomas Jefferson and Stevie Ray Vaughn!
One a personal note - engaging with history is one of the reasons I try to start each day on this blog with quotes I think worthy of contemplation whether they be from the past or present (but mostly from the past).
