So on Saturday May 20th we had a wedding at the Stamford Natural History Museum. It was grewat! Eceryone had a fantastic time/ Comgrats to Kelly and Jeff. This was planned.
Unfortunately on Sunday May 21st I had a stroke. This was unplanned. Completely unplanned.
I was in three hospitals for the next 19 days without access to any electronic devices. No electronic devices. No work, no blog posts, no nothing. Felt like I was in jail. Thank God I'm free now.
Now posting so be back to a semi-regular schedule/
Glad your back...you were truly missed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words
ReplyDeleteAfter Gerard earlier this Winter, I didn't want to lose Chris, too. So glad you're stickin' around.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Chris. I've been reading your blog daily for a few years now and really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy for a while and follow the Doc's advice.
Best wishes from Mick in Australia
I too felt the loss of Gerard deeply. I was once his sports editor.
ReplyDeleteMick thanks for the kind words. I'll try to keep up the posting but I now feel even more urgency to enjory the hell out of life. You should too.
Good grief, that is SERIOUS! Glad to see you are back, but have to hope you are actually OK. Symptoms/results from such can range from annoying to truly debilitating. Have seen such in my extended family on more than one occasion. I hope you are being smart and are listening to the right advice. I've made it to 78 so far and hope you will also. May we both exceed all statistics and expectation of heirs! :-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you - 78 is an accomplishment! I'm fine. Have all my mental faculties but do need some work going from 75% coordination to 100% and things being automatic. Down the Cape for the summer at a fruend;s living the life. Hope you're living the life too.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back and more importantly glad you are returning to full health. A good reminder to all of us to live each day to its fullest. Strokes can sneak up on us. A friend from church recently felt off on his left side but didn't think much of it and just attributed it to a previous injury (cleaning an "unloaded" gun). When it continued the next day his wife made him go get checked out. Turns out he had experienced a minor stroke! He needs a cane for balance now but otherwise seems fine. Best wishes for you going forward.
ReplyDeleteBill
Geezzzz, Bill. His were TWO darned lucky incidents. I, too am with cane (scooter on rare times) and have found that its slowing me down gives me more time to think about the next move IF I am so inclined. :-) Friends need good friends.
DeleteWelcome back! I hope you're fully recovered soon.
ReplyDeleteI missed you. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys - I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteMemento mori has long been a slogan and a reminder but now more than even.
We missed you but thought you were just going all in over at substack and had no idea. Very glad to see you're back!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Chris! I thought of you every day when no new posts were seen. Whoever posted that you would return gave me hope. Thank you for all you present to us each day. I often snap a pic of the quotes when one rings true to my world and share it throughout the day. May your recovery be rapid and complete. "Enjoy every sandwich." - Warren Zevon.
ReplyDeleteThanks glad to be back. Feels like much longer than 19 days ;)
ReplyDelete..glad you are back..missed you..get well soon
