Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- Perspective: Every war in history started as a Trade War. "Not every Trade War resulted in immediate armed conflict."
- Morgan Housel with thoughts on tariffs, economic history, and market decline. I disagree with much of his assumptions and think much of his thoughts on history are incorrect but agree with his stance of keeping an open mind since neither of us are experts in history or the economy (and certainly not me). And to be fair this was written before the big market rebound.
The statement "every war in history started as a trade war" is false.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the historical truth of the statement but found the warning worth sharing.
ReplyDeleteNothing peronal, Chris. I know you didn't write it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Nothing personal taken. Just that I don't know what the future holds and shooting war would be one of the worst outcomes with China would be one of the worst outcomes possible.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the validity of the quote - I went through my knowledge of US wars and an argument could be made for each one. Some would argue against that - such as North says the war was to free the slaves and the free labor to the South who argued that it was about states rights.
It is what it is
