Have a new miscellaneous thoughts and observations post up on Substack.
As expected the top of the NFL Draft went as expected with the New England Patriots taking left tackle Will Campbell from LSU with the 4th overall pick. Campbell was considered to be the best offensive lineman in the draft. Naysayers will tell you Campbell's arms are too short but they could have said the same thing about Logan Mankins who is up for induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Naysayers will tell you that's true but Mankins was picked with the 32nd pick not the 4th pick of the first round. Would these critics prefer Mankins or Cedric Benson who actually went 4th overall to Chicago? Arguably Mankins was the third best player taken in the 2005 NFL first round behind Aaron Rodgers (who fell to 21st!) and DeMarcus Ware.
