Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Danielle Boelli on Epic Soundtracks. I agree with both Ecstasy of Gold and Last of the Mohegans but would also add the theme to The Godfather.

- Don Surber: Trump releases Crossfire Hurricane files.

- Interesting: Scientists pioneer chemical process to repurpose rubber waste. I'd buy recycled tires if it was helpful.

- CMD Salamander with a detailed look at Signalgate. I don't claim to be a military or communications expert but as a former Navy Information Systems Security officer he's walked the walk. I would argue that Occam's Razor is that Goldberg still lied. It reminds me that the media was scaring people by reporting a lion was on the lose on the streets of New York City. It turned out it was a raccoon. True both are mammals but a lion on the lose got more clicks. There was never any "war plans" - just as there was never any "lion."

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Interesting to note that one of the main reasons that Tim Berners-Lee helped develop the "world wide web" (the Internet) was to share particle physics data amongst computers. Now it's cat videos and porn. Progress!... Who knew? Holy Cross College was the 1952 NCAA National Champions in baseball. That surprised me and I'm a lifelong Worcester resident... This was a real movie. Seriously - it has a 5.8 rating on IMDB. It made a total box office of $101,729 worldwide (with $100,000 of that coming from the US). Is it weird I want to see this?... Saw a sign recently outside a church that read "Where the sheep come to be fed by their Sheppard." I don't have the words to describe how offensive and unappealing I would find this if I were one of the parishioners... Recent data showed China having unfavorable to favorable polling at more than 2-1 in most developed countries in the world - except for Israel where is is almost the exact opposite. Wonder why the Israelis have such high regard for China?...
