Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

This was a classy move - by both teams... "The Bills marketing department this year has gone with the slogan 'One Heart, Beat Louder.' Our projections predict what that slogan literally tries to tell you: they're going to get beat louder this year." Football Outsiders 2018 Almanac... Bill Clinton never disappoints... "But if you don't understand what this is, its when you put your ding-dong sauce out and give them a sample." Marshawn Lynch (no relation) explaining urine testing (also from the Football Outsiders 2018 Almanac)... A thing of true beauty... This is how Buzz Aldrin treats his American flag. Do you think Neil Armstrong would be any less patriotic? Going to take a hard pass on seeing First Man... If they came out with a preview showing Jennifer Garner planting an American flag in the chest of a bad guy the movie Peppermint would absolutely crush at the box office...

Super Bowl Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations from last night's wicked awesome Patriots victory!

How can you not love Tom Brady?... Ed Werder with the Stat of the Day; "There were 109 passes thrown from the 1-yard line this season. Russell Wilson's was the first intercepted. That play decides the Super Bowl"... I would have run it with Lynch... Seriously Nationwide - WTF?... Pats cheerleader Kelly Bennion is the definition of a catch... OK with Bob Kraft no longer in his corner - what's the over / under for how long it takes for the NFL to name Condi Rice as Roger Goodell's replacement as Commissioner... You can judge a man by the company he keeps. Again - how can you not love Tom Brady (OK maybe I'm trolling a little)...

Buffalo Bills

I like Buffalo. Really I do. I know the city is gray with concrete the building material of choice and the sky always looks ready to rain or snow - I still like Buffalo. I've always had a good time when I've gone there and the people always seemed nice and down to earth.

I also like the Bills. That's why I feel bad that they will have such a miserable record at the end of the season. The Bills have perhaps the toughest schedule in the NFL. Going into their December 16th game against the Cleveland Browns - it is entirely possible that the Bills have either 1 or zero wins. Seriously.

Bodog has the over / under for wins for Buffalo set at 6 and I'm thinking the under is a pretty good bet. I hope I'm wrong because I like the Bills.

I like Dick Jauron as a coach, first round pick Marshawn Lynch (with a name like Lynch - how could I not?) and second round pick linebacker Paul Posluszny. The Buffalo Bills will probably be involved in many close games but alas they will end up losing almost all of them.

The good news is that they should be in the running for Brian Brohm and the first pick overall in the 2008 NFL draft.
