Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Keep waiting for one of the Democrats running for President to have a Dukakis in the tank moment. You know its coming... But I guess a Socialist choosing to be filmed in front of empty grocery shelves will have to do for now... Hollywood legend Robert Evans passes away aged 89. I really enjoyed the bio-documentary about Evans The Kid Stays in the Picture... "Practiced execution become game results."- Mike Lombardi... I laughed too hard at this (especially enjoyed the guy's facial expressions)... What comes next? Another MLB pitcher getting to 300 wins or another NFL coach getting to 300 wins?... The embarrassing handling of the death of ISIS leader al-Baghdadi by the Washington Post and others reminds me of the time the Obama campaign actually took contributions from "Osama bin Laden" - twice!...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
If Justin Beiber made a Christmas album - I'd give it as a gift to people I hate... Murphy Brown reboot cancelled after historically low ratings. Who could have seen this coming?... Confession: I have never seen the movie A Christmas Story. Have no plans to see it this year either... "A hero is one who knows how to hang on one minute longer" - Novalis... Not sure if this was just a Massachusetts saying but when I was a kid "book it" meant to run away as in, "the cops are here - book it!" Because kids in Mass naturally run away from books maybe?... Heh Heh... Speaking of Massachusetts things - I think Hollywood should remake a bunch of John Wayne movies but with a Mike Dukakis look-alike in the lead. I would definitely pay to see The Quiet Dukakis or She Wore a Yellow Dukakis...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
The Patriots are now 1-0 all-time when Bill Belichick "takes the wind" in overtime. What a game!... John Kerry really does look like the Cold Miser... Have you seen that Cadillac "that's mine" commercial? Why was older brother Kyle trying to get into a car that didn't belong to him in the first place? Did he fall onto hard times? Meth addict? Just a creepy car thief?... As far as QB comparisons - Tom Brady is Maryann while Peyton Manning is Ginger... I think I would like Broadway plays more if they included lots of yodeling... Hollywood should remake a bunch of John Wayne's movies but with a Mike Dukakis look-alike in the lead. I would go see The Quiet Dukakis or She Wore a Yellow Dukakis. These would be awesome comedies... Is there a bigger hot-mess on the dance floor than middle-age people trying to fast dance to Chicago songs?... Where the redheads are. Looks like a redhead in Italy is as rare as a Peyton Manning victory against Tom Brady...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Happy 60th birthday to Dwight Evans. The 8-time Gold Glove winning Dewey should have gotten much more Hall of Fame consideration then he got... Promising Assistant GM's want nothing to do with the Orioles - that's why it could be opportunity for someone like Dan Duquette who once was a big deal but now has trouble even getting interviews... Best part about the Baseball-reference.com front page update is the disclaimer... So was real reason Herman Cain chief of staff Mark Block was smoking that cigarette in that commercial post coital related?... Today would have been Charles Bronson's 90th birthday. In his dreams Chuck Norris wishes he'd be as badass as Charles Bronson... Big Adrian Gonzalez fan and big Red Sox fan but Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers should have won Silver Slugger for 1st base... Awesome beer map... On this day in 1913 the US introduced the income tax. A day that will live in infamy... Yesterday was Palindrome Day (11/02/2011) and I just wanted to note that best palindrome ever is "Lisa Bonet ate no basil"... 10 Retro Illustrations of Pop Culture Icons... Today is Michael Dukakis' 78th birthday. Funny how you never hear anyone wistfully thinking of how great a Dukakis Presidency would have been.

Red Sox Player's Cars at Fenway
I love getting little details like this. If you've ever tried to park around Fenway Park - you know parking is at a premium. It was interesting getting the insight of where the players park their cars.
I would have pegged Theo Epstein as a hybrid guy. Maybe he takes the T like Michael Dukakis?
(As an aside - my spellcheck offers the following corrections for "Dukakis" - Weakish, Rakish and Pakistani. I'm amused by that because I'll now think of Dukakis as a weakish, rakish Pakistani guy.)
