Some quotes I hope may resonate with you.

"A lot of people think you can go to school and study for how to make money, but the reality is, there's no skill called 'business.'" - Naval Ravikant

"The more I study the history of intellectuals, the more they seem like a wrecking crew, dismantling civilization bit by bit - replacing what works with what sounds good." - Thomas Sowell

"You gotta let the stupid people talk, so you know who the stupid people are." - Ted Nugent

"Do not give in to astonishment." - Terrance McKenna

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

The descent into our world of "fake news" really accelerated when The Daily Show with Jon Stewart became the defacto source of news for many young people. Snark became a replacement for facts...  This is beautiful to me (Trinity College library, Dublin)... This may sound strange but I'd really like to hear what Adele could do with a cover of Ted Nugent's Stranglehold... "Opportunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work" - Thomas Edison... Interesting rundown of some of the discoveries of the past decade in archaeology. We know so little about our past but hats off to those who are piecing together the puzzle of humanity's history... You have to hand it to Trump's media people. I haven't seen anything from the Democrats that's even close to being this good at messaging... If you're looking for a family movie I recommend the vastly underrated Kubo and the Two Strings. Its a couple of years old and came and went with little fanfare but it has a 97% critics rating and an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Just to get this out there and ahead of the story - I have no idea how those illegal substances got into my system. It might have been those damn supplements... I really want this T-shirt... How would history have been different if England came in on the side of the South during the Civil War with the caveat that the Southern States return to being part of Great Britain?... Starting to think the Red Sox were wrong not to trade Blake Swihart for Cole Hamels a few seasons ago... Ted Nugent said that Stranglehold is really a love song. Now I have the perverse desire to see someone like Tony Bennett sing it like a love ballad... On this day in 1687 Isaac Newton published his Principia perhaps the most import science book ever printed... "The universe if full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper." - Eden Phillpotts...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Trump should collectively nominate the cast of Hamilton to be Secretary of Education just to see leftists heads explode. "But they are not qualified" the media will point out. Then why are you listening to them Trump could ask... I love Mitt Romney. People who see cheap in that picture and not humble just don't get it... Quote of the day: "I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened."- Mark Twain...  A day late but still worth remembering... I don't want a drone. I want the mechanical owl from the first Clash of the Titans movie... This is true (and sad)... Reading Charlie Pierce's post election Tweets - I can't help but picture him going naked Howard Hughes peeing into glass jars insane because the election didn't go his way... Am I the only one who reads this report and immediately thinks of Breaking Bad?... I would love to hear Adele cover Ted Nugent's Stranglehold... I'm still disappointed that Conor McGregor wasn't signed to play Mad Sweeney in American Gods... This is also true (and sad)...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Fundamental truth is that greed always turns into fear. This helps explains why there will shortly be a new CBA in the NFL and why it happened at last minute. The greed that caused the lockout turned into fear that they were in danger of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs... McDonald’s Menu Items From Around The World... Someone should ask Brian Jordan, Gary Sheffield, Juan Encarnacion and Trot Nixon if Josh Reddick should replace JD Drew. Those were the right fielders that Drew has replaced in his various stops... I was surprised and saddened by the passing of Myra Kraft, wife of owner Bob Kraft. My deepest condolences to the entire Kraft family... The things you learn from the Internet (via Mental Floss): "In 1986, Ted Nugent made a $10 million bid to buy Muzak so he could close down the company. His offer was rejected"... Ubaldo Jimenez of the Rockies has been damaged goods ever since failing to find his name on those fake vanity plates they make for kids.
