Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- How to win a space war. Long but interesting read that boils down to - first have a SpaceX.

- The economic costs of the Iran war. Not sure how this changes with a potential decrease in prices at the pump.

- Many a truth is said in jest.

- We were right about the 2024 recession.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Jonathan Turley on Liberal Democrats calling for saving democracy through bloodthirsty means. That's how we get events like last night. And they know it!

- Donnie Wahlberg offered 50% of his salary if Boston Blue could be filmed in Boston but it was too expensive. So you're seeing Toronto instead.

- What's next for Red Sox after firing Alex Cora.

- Take the 52-week Black and White film challenge. Seen a number of these films multiple times and some have already been remade in color. Don't think it would work for all films especially comedies but don't be surprised to see some re-makes come out.

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- This is pretty powerful.

- Red Sox win 3-1 to take 1-0 lead over New York.

- Don't care your politics - this is funny.

- Peace through strength is working. It always works - why people choose to be soft and expect that to work always baffles me.

Rafael Devers to the Giants

Some miscellaneous thoughts on the trade that sent Rafael Devers from the Red Sox to the San Francisco Giants:

  • Many Boston fans are calling this a salary dump and that the Red Sox owner is just a cheapskate who doesn't care about winning any more. The sad part is if John Henry ever sells the Red Sox - he'll make billions doing it.
  • In Rafael Devers defense - who knows what the Red Sox front office or ownership promised him before he signed that big 10-year contract. He could quite simply be pissed that they broke their word to him. Knowing how Boston has treated other players - I wouldn't doubt if this was the case.
  • Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw on the Devers trade.
  • Waiting for the Boston Globe's Bob Hohler to do a hit piece on Devers now. This has been John Henry's MO in the past.
  • Reminder that not only did the Red Sox scapegoat and move on from players - they also scapegoated and moved on from Theo Epstein, Tito Francona, and after his team won the 2018 World Series GM Dave Dombrowski. The only common link is John Henry.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The greatest game I ever saw Pedro pitch. I forgot Dave Roberts was the centerfielder or Cleveland that night.

- California not even pretending anymore that they're not playing politics in delaying SpaceX launches from the state. SpaceX and Space Force should move all launches and related jobs out of California to Florida or Texas where they'd be welcome.

- This isn't good news for Kamala Harris

- Time to Look for the Genuine

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Every week it seems Joe Biden seems to be making the case for being the worst US President in history. Question has to be asked if Merrick Garland has also been week by week making the case to be considered the worst Attorney General in history?

- Watched this interview live on TV. The second part in Spanish was just as entertaining.

- Taxes

- Boston coach Joe Mazzulla on his Catholic faith. Knew the Celtics coach was a staunch Christian but didn't realize he was Catholic. Boston goes for their 18th championship title tonight.
