Hockey Overtime Thought

The other night I was out watching the Bruins / Islanders game with my buddy Todd. When the game went into overtime, Todd shared with me how he would like to see overtime run and since then I've thought about it alot and now agree with Todd.

What Todd would like to see instead of the current format is a four one four with a twist. In overtime both teams would send out four players and those four players would play until one team scored. No clock and no substitutions.

It could turn into a iron man competition. The players would get tired after just a few minutes and a player like Ray Bourque and his superhuman stamina would have a great advantage. I like this idea.
