Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Cool story on remembering where you came from via the Buffalo Bills.

- New study estimates the percentage of those in Texas with naturally occurring antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 is 35.3% and total estimated immunity in Texas is 69.1%. That sounds a lot like herd immunity to me.

- Sherlock Holmes on information overload. (HT Morgan Housel)

  1. I cannot comment on FDR vs that other guy, but I can comment on the Lusitania. No change, US still enters the war. and Lee was not one logistic win away from beating Grant. Lee was long over, no match for USG at any point, let alone at that point in the war.

  2. Agree about Lee. Better example might have been if Lee was able to take the high ground (Cemetery Hill?) at Gettysburg after the first day.

  3. I think in the end, it does not matter. For me, this is Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Tyson. FM might make a few rounds interesting, but no chance long term. Operation Anaconda was working, and most people do not know that the northern states had 80% of the WORLD's rail trackage. it was not close. and that skips money, which the north had, much much more than the south. Lee made his reputation on green troops at the beginning of the war. Later, he is not very impressive at all. And Grant IS impressive. it was not luck that got him from Colonel to Supreme Commander of all US troops.

  4. actually, he should stop, just stop. Helicopters predate ww2 by 15+ years. not designs, working, manufactured units. WW2 made them much more common, sure. and Penicillin was discovered in 1928. WW2 brought the mass production of it, by the americans, but ww2 brought mass production of a lot of things, by the americans....
