Interesting look at our different beliefs and why we believe them. The essay is worth reading from time to time to examine if you have "merit beliefs" and "crony beliefs." I like the idea that "the greater our urge to talk about a belief, to wear it like a badge, the more likely it is to be crony." That would explain vegans and why they are so vocal about explaining they're vegan.
On a more global basis I also like the idea that "social incentives are the root of all our biggest thinking errors."
Long read but worth the time. If you believe in "good explanations" - this one fits the bill.
