Have you considered the allure of the valley with streams meandering down to a river that flows into a gentle sea long whose sandy shore one could pursue a great life in good company and, I stress this, live by the sea instead of on some crummy mountain? OTGH worked many years in San Jose and the Bay Area and it was neither all that mountainous or too close to the beach.
Like to hike and my girlfriend always reminds me that highest hill in Florida is a garbage dump. So I guess that is proof you can climb the wrong hill.
