I have no trouble either race or gender swaps. In fact two of my favorite movies were race swaps - Denzel Washington in Man on Fire and Pam Grier in Jackie Brown. In fact like both movies so much I also read the books (the second one was based on Elmore Leonard's Rum Punch).
Straight up gender swaps can be more problematic because so many studios try their hardest to be woke but at the same time are out of original ideas (take the gender swap Ghostbusters as perfect example). What I'd suggest would be slightly different and not woke driven.
How about a new Family Ties? What I propose is a reboot but with the mom working for Fox News or some conservative podcast and the dad is a liberal stay at home dad. Instead of a Michael J. Fox you could have a female Axela who also conservative, hot, and in to the NRA. Mallory could now be a liberal boy which could set up some interesting girls vs guys situations. The youngest Jennifer could now be a boy who is interesting only in gaming and the online world which gives the show appeal to younger audiences and interesting sponsors. He could become a living product placement.
Why not give it a shot?
