I read these things because I wonder it is just me noticing but I console myself with the thought that all the good books are still out there even if you cannot find them all at the library. Tastes change but people read what they like and they won't read what they don't like and that is why used bookshops are still a treat. They are much much rarer than when I was young or living in San Diego but one can still find them.
I've reconciled myself that I won't be able to read all the books I want to. But I've also reconciled myself to carrying a book everywhere because I just like reading.
I am saddened by all these used bookstores closing down. Many blame Amazon for that but I think it's the fact that so many would rather stare at a phone than turn the page of a book.
