- Not to be lost in all the politics - the Brian Flores lawsuit may finally put an end to the NFL's legal arbitration under Roger Goodell. Really rooting for Flores on this one.
- Musburger Media purchases VSiN. Was unaware they network was previously owned by DratKings.
- Ayaan Hirsi Ali: Democrats reap what they sow. The DNC - crazy on a ship of fools.
More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- Update on Brian Flores' fight against discrimination in the NFL. Plenty articles about Belichick, Vrabel, and sometimes Carroll being passed over this hiring cycle but when's the last time one of these mentioned Flores?
- The "Squad" vs MADD. Get your popcorn ready.
Agree 100% with this Mike Florio post, "Brian Flores has true character and integrity, and any team looking for a head coach should want to hire him."
The two criticisms I've seen of the article are that Flores only blew the whistle after he had been fired which isn't true. He put his concerns about tanking in writing as it was happening (which is why his lawsuit against the NFL and the Dolphins will be so troublesome for the league). Also the "ask his players" criticism usually has Kyle Van Noy as exhibit A. Van Noy signed with the Dolphins after playing for Flores in New England but was cut after just one years. Guess what - Van Noy was also just cut from the Patriots after just one year. The Patriots big knock on defense last year was that the linebackers were too big and slow. Van Noy was exhibit A there too.
The big question with Flores going forward will be if he will see his lawsuit against the league and the Dolphins out to the end. I believe it would have to be a giant check with real changes to the league hiring processes attached for Flores to accept a settlement. A real big check.
The Dolphins and the NFL would be wise to get out their checkbooks.
Have long said that the NFL's "handling" of the Jon Gruden's emails was going to come back to bite them in the ass. Between sending the clear message to the Raiders that the league won't tolerate racist coaches and the NFL's sham racial fairness process of hiring those same coaches we're going to have the NFL front office under Roger Goodell exposed as hypocrites for all to see.
Why the need for the two orders Colonel Commissioner?
Tom Brady was originally supposed to team up with Sean Payton in Miami - with Payton as head coach and Brady not as QB but in the front office similar to what John Lynch does in San Fran. The Brian Flores lawsuit against the Dolphins scuttled those plans for both Payton and Brady.
I can buy this as a plausible scenario.
Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has filed a lawsuit against the NFL, the NY Giants, the Dolphins, the Broncos (not sure why they were singled out), and the rest of the teams in the league. The lawsuit was filed, symbolically, on February 1st, the first day of Black History Month. Appropriate since this lawsuit is sure to make history.
Mike Florio posted an article on the lawsuit. In it he states:
The message to a jury of average people, if it gets to that point, will be simple. "Folks, if you flip a coin 500 times and it comes up head's 490 times, there's something wrong with the coin."
And it's ultimately going to cost the NFL many, many more than 500 coins to resolve this one.
Even 500 Bitcoins, which would be over $19 million may not be enough. Hey NFL - Black Head Coaches Matter.
