Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Not for nothing but here's a semi-regular reminder that Al Gore is 7-years younger than both Bernie Sanders and Mike Bloomberg and 6-years younger than Joe Biden. And if the Democrats continue to make climate change a top issue then Gore has better credentials then anyone currently running... Author Charles Portis best known for his novel True Grit has passed away. I added his book The Dog of the South to my Amazon wish list based solely on this remembrance of Portis. True Grit is a vastly underrated book... .. Did not watch the Democratic Debate last night in Las Vegas but this morning I awoke with a sadness of wishing Charles Krauthammer were still alive to critique it in writing... A reminder that President Obama signed 1,927 Presidential pardons/commutations while President Trump has just signed 26. So let's take a step back from any faux outrage... Tremendous Angst would be a good name for a grundge era cover band... "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." - Confucius...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Really disappointed that the question "Can biological males get their periods?" wasn't asked at this week's Democratic candidate debate. There's no telling how that question would have been answered by the various candidates... Who knew? In the early 1970's North Korea actually had a higher GDP than South Korea. Tell me again how socialism/communism is better than capitalism... Good look at why the NBA TV ratings are down. I have to wonder if the words Hong Kong and China were deliberately omitted... Starchy Tubers would be a good name for a band - especially a brass band... Funny because its true!... Who knew? Bill Parcells was once the head coach at the Air Force Academy for one season. He had a 3-8 record... So Barack and Michele Obama were paid by Netflix lots of money a year and a half ago. If the Obama's never actually produce any content - would that payment be consider a bribe?...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
With so many people running for President on the Democratic side (and many of them not even "Democrats") it seems a little weird that Ralph Nader is not among them. I know he's 85 and the vigor of the campaign trail may be beyond him at this point but it would be nice to see Ralph... Heh Heh... Always remember that one man's punk rock is another man's pop... Wow - just wow... Firmly believe that the remaining Democratic Party debates should open with REM's Shiny Happy People (what they pretend to be) and close with the theme to Shaft (what they're trying to do to US taxpayers)... "The life of wisdom must be a life of contemplation combined with action." - M. Scott Peck... Remember right after the fall of Baghdad when CNN personnel let it be known that while Saddam Hussein was in power that they had to have Iraqi "minders" to monitor what they said on air? And that these "minders" basically intimidated the CNN folks into pro-Saddam reporting? The Democratic Party doesn't even need "minders" to intimidate CNN on-air personalities into pro-Democratic Party reporting. And they wonder why their ratings are in the toilet...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Did not watch a single minute of last night's Democratic Presidential Debate. I feel I'm a better man for not having my IQ assaulted... Cool - some of the top pictures from this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition... Not for nothing but you should be pretty proud of yourself if you were able to grab the Patriots -7 when the lines first went up... Heh heh... Would love to see the Farrelly Brothers cast Rob Gronkowski as Sea Bass' (Cam Neeley) son in a spin off comedy of Dumb and Dumber. No way that movie isn't funny... Very cool - cooling glove may be better than steroids. Literally very cool... In that State Farm commercial is the name on the title of that Cadillac simply "Elvis Impersonator" because all those guys seem to think they own the car. Did State Farm commit fraud by selling those guys multiple policies on the same vehicle? Do I read too much into commercials?... Excellent appreciation of Steve Spurrier. Bonus it includes the phrase "nanny-take pissmerchant"to describe Mike Lupica... Some say hell is a man on acoustic guitar playing Hotel California over and over. Extra crispy hell - that man is Chris Berman...

Democratic Debate
I watched the Democratic Presidential candidates debate from Drexel University and I haven't seen such comedy on TV in a long time. In case you missed it - let me sum it up for you.
Dennis Kucinich sees aliens and Hillary wants to give them drivers licenses.
EDIT: Damn! Kathryn Jean Lopez beat me to the punchline by 40 minutes!
