Leprechaun - GO!

Here's an idea for a phone app - Leprechaun Go! Similar to Pokemon Go but instead of having to find Pokemon balls the goal is to find Leprechauns that are released in participating bars. The reward for finding and catching a Leprechaun would be a free beer!

Someone like Guinness or Budweiser could sponsor it and tie into Saint Patrick's Day festivities. Say release a Leprechaun randomly every half-hour over a geographic area - like a city.

Think this would be a hit. If someone wants to write the code, sell the idea to the beer company - I'd be willing to split the profits.

Today should have been the annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Worcester. This is one of the 5 largest St Patty's parades in the country but because of Covid we can't have nice things... Reminder - we knew exactly who President Obama picked in his NCAA pool but we never learned where he was the night our Embassy in Benghazi was attacked... Cancel culture may have started with lawn darts. First they came for Jarts and I said nothing... The Quest for Good Explanations would be a good name for a blog... Happy 88th birthday to Michael Caine. Remember if you say "my cocaine" you are also saying Michael Caine's name in his own voice...

Saint Patrick

With today being St. Patrick's Day -  here's just a couple of things about Saint Patrick.

...was not Irish. He was a British Celt, first enslaved in Ireland as a teen, later a missionary to Ireland. 

...was not necessarily the first missionary to Ireland. 

No one knows his birth or death date. March 17th is traditionally considered to be one of the two, but there is no documentation for this. 

The only documents about Patrick are his Confession and a letter he wrote to Coroticus. 

There were never snakes---or other reptiles---in Ireland for Patrick to chase out. 

Patrick predates the Roman Catholic Church, and was considered a ``saint'' before the Roman church created its canon (list) of saints (and added him to it).

OK I'll say it! I don't think that is is a coincidence that International Women's Day fell on a day where there was no football. That's proper scheduling... This is awesome!... Is goalie Roberto Luongo a Hall of Famer? Sure he's 2nd in all time in games played and 3rd all-time in wins (485) but he's never won the Vezina Trophy as the top goalie in the NHL. Maybe he is a Hall of Famer - I just never looked at him that way... Adult Swim should have a show called Rick Santorum: Vatican Spy. It would be a cross between The West Wing and Archer. Tell me you wouldn't watch that show!... Would you eat the Moon if it was made of ribs? Harry Caray would... Maybe the worst part of St. Patrick's Day is the fat guy in a kilt. You know that guy - you run into one every year. The fat guy in the kilt who is always joking about "the breeze" or "dangling shillelaghs" trying to get you to ask if he's wearing underwear. You know the guy... Now this is a diet I could get behind...

So Tom Brady has announced he'll definitely be back for the 2019 season (and maybe beyond). Meanwhile I fully expect drama queen Ben Roethlisberger to play Hamlet this offseason about whether he'll be returning or possibly retiring. Steelers fans - you know this is true... What's the worst that could happen?... I would love it if MLB would start referring to left-handed pitchers as "left-wingers" and right-handed pitchers as "right-wingers" just to mess with people... Extra Cheese would be an awful nickname to give to a girl. Even if she is from Vermont or Wisconsin... Americans... I still say that if the day after Christmas can be Boxing Day then the day after Saint Patrick's Day should be Hangover Day... "We don't beat the Reaper by living longer.
