Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
As we enter the Christmas season a gentle reminder - if you play The Christmas Shoes on the jukebox I should be allowed to throw darts at you. No exceptions!... In America the government DOES NOT exist to make us equal but to treat us equally. Any government agency or policy that treats citizens unequally is un-American... Muscular Church would be a good name for a Christian rock band... Heh heh - awesome!... "Coming of Age" stories are a little too spot on if you just reverse the order of those three words... Also as a reminder as we enter the Christmas season - we don't say the word "Hark!" enough these days. Who wouldn't like hearing someone calling attention to something important by exclaiming "Hark!" Or maybe it's just me...

- Thanks to the "ferocity and swiftness" of "cowboy" George Bush there was no follow-up attack after 9/11. The source of this claim would be the one to know.
- The Eagles are an enigma to me. I don't like their songs but know all the lyrics. I don't like the musicians but can't get enough stories like this.

- 10 Pterosaur facts. First off don't call a pterosaur a dinosaur. Second off my spell check wants to change "pterosaur" to "stegosaurus". Poor pterosaur gets no respect.
- Things Disney characters do that would be very creepy if you did them.
- If Superman existed then Gravity would have been a much shorter movie.
- The physics of Captain America
- These are wicked funny

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
I'm happy for Doc Rivers and the Celtics. It was a good move for both sides. It will be interesting to see what happens with Kevin Garnett now. With a move to the Clippers probably blocked by the league how funny would it be if KG ended up sharing an arena with Doc by getting traded to the Lakers?... 26 songs about Superman. I would have put the Crash Test Dummies song at number one... Interesting to note that according to @SportsTaxMan the trade to Clipppers may actually cost Doc Rivers close to a million dollars because of differences in state taxes... Things I should know by now but do not; why is a $10 bill called a "sawbuck"?... The Dark Knight Rises was not a good movie and I think less and less of it every time I see it pop up on HBO... I think that whole smoke a cigarette after sex thing was something the tobacco industry made up with Hollywood's help. People I know don't crave a cigarette after sex. Hard core smokers want a cigarette every 15 minutes whether it is after sex or not. Occasional smokers have stress as more of a trigger to smoking desire and sex is a stress reliever... Belgian Waffles Benedict. I want - right now!... Things you learn on the Internet: According to Mental Floss - "Curly [of the Three Stooges] ad-libbed his first 'woo, woo, woo!' He used it when he forgot is lines."...

Man of Steel
I saw Man of Steel when it first came out and I liked it but some things did bother me. And the more I thought about it - the more the plot holes bothered me.
This piece does a nice job of poking fun of same of the major plot holes (SPOILERS!).
Just want to add that I completely agree that this would have been a shorter and better movie if they just eliminated the Perry White character completely. He was completely useless.

- Parents who suck on their infants pacifiers may protect child from developing allergy. If my kid dropped their binky on the ground - I didn't hesitate to pick it up and clean it off in my mouth. Better a little dirt in my mouth than an unhappy kid missing their binky. Glad to hear there were other benefits.
- President Obama used Buzz Aldrin just for a photo opportunity.
- Another piece of my childhood soiled.

- I was wondering whatever happened in that story of the casino deciding not to pay Phil Ivey millions in winnings because they thought he was cheating

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Here's a question that has bothered me these past few days - if Superman grew a beard would there be a razor blade on Earth that would be strong enough to shave his beard? If no - why is it Superman always appears clean shaven?... Very cool photo of an arctic forest in Finland... Part of me wants to Yankees to sign former San Fran closer Brian Wilson just so Wilson would have to shave his freaking beard.... Also very cool - DC Justice League superhero currency... Tom Brady broke Joe Montana's record for playoff wins on Sunday but you don't hear anyone talking about it. Low key - successful. I have no doubt in my mind that if Brady was the QB of the Broncos on Saturday that Denver would have rolled over Baltimore. Does anyone disagree with that?... Dan Le Bartard's piece on Jason Taylor should be must reading for any NFL fan...
