Player Comparison

Here's a "Player Comparison" out of left field.

Player A - wanted to eliminate half the life in the universe

Player B - was just one great purge away from creating a communist paradise.

If you actually treated May Day as a holiday well I guess we also know who you were rooting for during Infinity War.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

I hope that during the Super Bowl Media Day at least one player answers every question by simply saying, "I am Groot"... The US jobs picture without Texas is not pretty... Good advice often comes from unexpected places at unexpected times... Stephen Strasburg for Mookie Betts? I think a Tanner Roark for Betts works better (no pun intended) or how about Shane Victorino (and prospect) for Doug Fister?... Heh heh - Star Wars (Age of Ultron Style)... Its been pointed out elsewhere but President Obama's foreign policy can be explained in a nutshell by pointing out he plans to attend the funeral of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah but he skipped the funeral of Margaret Thatcher... Heh heh... If you've been anywhere on the Internet the past five days you probably already seen the video of this incredible archer... Forget the Legion of Boom - how will the Seahawks score against the Patriots?...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Why can't Sony release the movie The Interview in Canada? Even the North Koreans can't hate the Canadians... Heh heh - John Wayne chased them down an alley... Think about it - even if you won $1 million in the lottery every month for the rest of your life - you would never become a billionaire... Heh heh... Who knew? Barry Manilow's hit "I Write the Songs" was not written by Barry Manilow... Interesting interview of Joss Whedon regarding the new Avengers: Age of Ultron movie... Idea for a new TV channel; ESP-N (the Extra Sensory Perception Network). Psychics would make sports predictions and pick games... Who knew? The Russian economy as measured by GDP is smaller than that of the State of Texas...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

A lot of new movies and shows coming to Netflix in November. And a lot of movies and shows are being taken out of the library including favorites Serenity and Broadcast News. Plan your day accordingly... Fan favorite Kevin Youkilis has decided to retire. The Greek God of Walks saw 292 3-0 counts in his career (according to MLB Stats) and never swung at a single one of those pitches... 36-years ago yesterday the single greatest holiday episode of any show ever aired. As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly... I have to wonder if Youkilis will spend part of his retirement taking the wife to follow brother-in-law Tom Brady's games on the road. My mind can easily picture Youkilis in a Winnebago... Heh heh - "Draw me like one of your French girls"... Can't stop thinking that in the next Avengers movie they are in effect fighting the Fox Sports robot... Very interesting story - the gentleman thief of Venice... The Steelers are retiring Mean Joe Greene's number this Sunday. How is it possible his number hasn't been retired already?... Speaking of Kevin Youkilis' brother-in-law, last Sunday Brady accomplished something only one QB in NFL history had previously accomplished. Brady had 85 percent completions (30-35), over 350 yards passing and 5 TD's with no INT's. The only other QB to accomplish this? Tom Brady... Interesting - India holds more gold than the governments of the US, Germany and Switzerland combined...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations. I'm conflicted about the Celtics two first round draft picks. I think both Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo are great value picks and even if only one guy pans out then the draft was a success. I'm conflicted because I knew who both players were going in and these days that's normally not a good sign... The show Louie was back last night but I missed it because the Red Sox were playing on the West Coast. Anyway - here's 50 cool pieces of Louis CK fan art (although some of these don't even look like him)... I was thinking that a good comparison for Sullinger was a slightly taller Ryan Gomes. I really hope Sullinger can stay healthy (note to Celtics - keep him away from any Red Sox medical staff)... Heh heh - Dora the Explorer the Movie... Last night Saint Bonaventure had a player taken in the first round of the NBA draft. I fully expect a 5,000 word screed from Bill Simmons about why can't Holy Cross produce NBA draft picks sometime today... Physics questions and the Avengers. I would seriously watch a show on the Science Channel that had physics professors answering these questions... Elizabeth Hurley was supposedly the original choice to play Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies. Hurley was (IMHO) at one point the hottest woman in the world... I love reading stories about Romney Superfan Jim Wilson. I would love to see regular guy Wilson debate Obama political operative David Axelrod...

Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting and thought I'd share.
The Scream sells for $120 million. Did not know there were 4 copies of this painting. This was not the one that was stolen a couple of years ago.
I love science questions like this. What would happen if you placed your hand in the way of the Large Hadron Collider?
Very interesting look at some old-timey sportswriters who called themselves "the Chipmunks". This was the sort of think I hoped Grantland would be putting out.
In depth story of Joss Whedon and how he came to helm the new Avengers movie. Good read.
Amusing Mad Men / Watchmen mash-up
