Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- VDH on what happens when the madness ends. You should read this one twice!
- And an example of what VDH was talking about. (Hat tip Instapundit)
- The parks of Minneapolis. This sort of thing is going to force some people to make drastic changes on how they vote. And others to simply move out of "progressive" havens like Minneapolis.
- Interesting look at how COVID-19 could effect the NFL salary cap with a particular look at how it could actually benefit the New England Patriots.
- The general wisdom of Ulysses S. Grant.
- Interesting article - How I became a poker champion in one year

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Not to take anything away from Marcus Mariota because he seems like a sincerely good guy but Tom Brady has been supporting both the Special Olympics and the Best Buddies charity for years with little or no fanfare... Cult of Inhibitions - band name or all-inclusive singles resort?... This is fantastic... Yesterday was the anniversary of Robert E. Lee surrendering to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox in 1865. One of the most important dates in US history goes by with little or no mention and we wonder why kids today seem so uninformed... My whole childhood is a lie... Yearly reminder - there is no greater time-waster than reading mock draft articles. Nobody knows anything... Massive archive of 78 RPM records now free online...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Dolly Parton is a great American. She has promoted reading by giving away 1 million books. ONE MILLION BOOKS A FREAKING MONTH! Wrap your brain around that... "Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts." - Richard Feynman. A quote to keep in mind every time you read a newspaper or an article online... Japanese WFT? Seriously WTF!... I think the word "disseminate" should refer to when a man masturbates to climax... Who knew? Ulysses S. Grant is the only person on regularly used US currency who actually graduated from college... Spherical Bastards would be a good name for a band (bastards no matter what angle you looked at them)... Dolly Parton truly is an American treasure...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
It was bad for Pat Kelsey to leave UMass at the altar for both Kelsey and UMass. My guess is word came to Kelsey that another higher profile opportunity with interest in him will be surfacing after the tournament... Faster please!... I think the word "disseminate" should refer to when a man jerks off to climax... I love these stories (I would have loved a Bruins win last night just as much)... If another job isn't handed to Kelsey after the tournament then you can be sure that AD's across the country will long remember what he did to UMass... If Disturbed can cover Sound of Silence - why not have Metallica cover Dianna Ross' Do You Know (Where You're Going To)... Therapeutic Cunnilingus would be a good name for a band... If the Saints need a CB so badly - wouldn't it have been better for them to have signed Stephon Gilmore? Trying to work a deal with the Patriots for Malcolm Butler will end up costing them much more... Try our new grandma (she's delicious!)... Who knew? Ulysses S. Grant is the only person on regularly used US currency that actually graduated from college... Heh heh - train don't give a damn... I also think the word "orgasm" should be replaced with the word "culminate"...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Interesting - Tom Brady is 4-1 in the playoffs when passing at least 50 times. Every other NFL QB in history is a combined 3-27 when passing 50 or more times in the playoffs... Bill Clinton and Pussy Riot. That would be a great name for a fantasy baseball team (or a porn movie)... Snapple Facts: Yankees first baseman, Mark Teixeira, practices his cold weather swing by clubbing baby seals... Who knew? Ulysses S Grant is only person on regularly used US currency that graduated from college... This is a photo that is just begging for a caption... Just a reminder - according to my American College Dictionary "physicality" is not an actual word. I wish basketball announcers would stop using it... Scott Peterson was sentenced to death in 2004 for killing his wife Laci. He's still on death row. Get it over already!... Welcome to Kentucky... On this day in history 153 years ago - the Battle of the Ironclads (aka the Monitor vs the Merrimac) began. The battle ended in a draw as neither ship's cannon could penetrate the iron defenses of the other. The battle gave birth to modern navies... Happy birthday to Hall of Famer Jim Ed Rice...

Top 5 - Memorable Things That Happened on a July 4th
Happy 4th of July. Here are the top 5 things that happened in US history on the 4th of July. Don't forget that July is American Beer Month.
1. 1776 Colonies declare independence
2. 1826 Presidents, patriots, rivals and friends John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both die on the same day
3. 1863 The surrender of Vicksurg to General Grant (the town of Vicksburg would not celebrate the Fourth of July for 81 years)
4. 1831 James Madison, last of the founding fathers, dies
5. (tie) 1804 Lewis and Clark celebrate first 4th of July west of the Mississippi (tie) 1939 Lou Gehrig gives his "luckiest man alive" speech at Yankee Stadium

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
On Tuesday for the Red Sox Opening Day - the music for Ted Kennedy's intro was first the theme music from A Band of Brothers and then Tessie by the Drop Kick Murphy's. Not sure if Band of Brothers was really appropriate for Kennedy who used his dad's political connections to insure he never saw any combat in his undistinguished tour in the Army. The Irish drinking-like Tessie on the other hand seemed more like Teddy's style... Your really don't hear the phrase "shiver me timbers" anymore - not even on Talk Like a Pirate day. The phrase probably gained its original popularity via the character Long John Silver in Treasure Island. I don't know why I thought about this in the first place but if there's a place for random thoughts this is it. I understand the phrase "well blow me down" is still popular in certain circles - not that there's anything wrong with that... You may have heard the trick question "Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?" The answer of course is President Grant. However, the trick answer to "What was Ulysses S Grant's first name?" is actually Hiram.
