Tesla selects Texas as home to the next Gigafactory. After the Supreme Court ruling regarding Oklahoma I think this was basically a done deal. Won't be surprised if some manufacturing capacity is moved from California to Texas as well... "Invest the best hours of your day on the biggest opportunity, not the biggest problem." - Shane Parrish. Such great advice but at the same time so hard to do... US banks can now hold crypto-currencies. Why do I have the sneaking suspicion this actually makes things like Bitcoin less secure?... On the plus side NFL coaches wearing masks on the sidelines won't have to bother to hold up a call sheet to hide their lips from any lip readers anymore... Andrew Cuomo: "We now have people coming to New York, fleeing other states because it's the 'safe' state." I must admit that having recently re-watched the HBO Watchmen series I can't help but think of the Looking Glass scene where he reviews a NYC tourist commercial. Is it possible that people will flee certain large cities like NYC to the point where the rent control apartments will be above market value? I can see that happening... If you vandalize a statue of Stevie Ray Vaughn in Austin you aren't a protester - you're an ignorant fuckhead criminal... Prediction - someone will come out with a fantasy football app where if an NFL player on your roster kneels during the National Anthem then that player is not eligible for any points that week. Not saying this is right or wrong but I am saying there would be a market for such an application... I would love to see Tesla come to some agreement to purchase the rights to the now defunct Pontiac brand. I think there would be a market for Tesla power trains, batteries and engines housed under a classic Firebird Trans Am body... If the NBA gets it going in the Orlando/Disney "bubble" it would be nice if the NBA and Disney allowed anyone staying there to accrue any loyalty program benefits even though the teams and the NBA will be paying the bills. Won't mean much for the millionaire players and owners but it would be a nice touch for the team and league personnel who have to be away from their families... Given recent world events I wonder if Alan Moore has changed his mind and dislike for the HBO adaptation of his graphic novel Watchmen... Watchmen

Recently completed watching viewing the HBO series Watchmen and I really enjoyed it. Then again I started off as a fan of the Alan Moore graphic novel and to a lesser degree the 2009 movie adaptation by Zach Snyder.

My girlfriend, not familiar with either the graphic novel or the 2009 movie, dropped out from watching after 2 episodes. Just too much information is assumed to be known by the viewer and without that knowledge the series could seem disjointed and weird.

Also understand that Alan Moore was not exactly best pleased with the re-imagining of his universe. Then again I think it would be bigger news if the curmudgeonly Alan Moore actually praised something.

Anyway - I give it two thumbs up. (Although not sure how they'll manage a second season based upon the ending of this one.)

Watchmen

I saw Watchmen today and I thought I would share a few thoughts on the movie.

The movie is very long (almost 3 hours) but very true to the book until the end. Of course there was no way to fit everything into 3 hours so don't be upset if you don't get the backstory to Hooded Justice (or anything about Hooded Justice at all).

Jackie Earle Haley was excellent as Rorschach. Spot on in my opinion.

This movie is rated R for a reason. Don't take young kids to the movie thinking you are going to see Spiderman. Think more like the Sopranos as superheros - Bada Bing scenes and all.

Dr. Manhattan's penis is a scene stealer. It's like a X-rated "Where's Waldo?" Billy Crudup shows up on screen and your mind goes - "there it is again!" I image the most common interview question Billy Crudup will have to answer will be "was that really your penis?"

Both the book and the movie get two thumbs up.
