Stuff i found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Is there an extinction level event coming for the Deep State?

- Former NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo referred for criminal complaint. Lying to Congress under oath is a crime.

- Are they scrubbing the Internet right now? Scary thought! Another reason to keep things stored locally with backups.

Cracked Icons

VDH on how we are slowly returning to reality after four years of mass hysteria. "Our media-deified, progressive icons are finally being exposed as the deceivers they always were."

Agree 100%. Hopefully this time people will have longer memories and not be fooled a second time by similar charlatans.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Now that it's officially fall - let me be the first to remind you that's there's now just 13 shopping weeks until Christmas... Actually surprised we haven't read about any UN translators having a stroke or nervous breakdown after trying to translate this speech... "Whoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god." - Aristotle. Given the choice between the two - I'm going to go ahead and say I'm a god then. Though to be fair to Aristotle - he was born before the printing press and mass production of beer. Give me a good book and a cold beer and I'm delighted in solitude... It's like the evolution of my punctuation over the last 5-years in one image. I feel so seen... Let me take this opportunity to announce I'm formally taking myself out of the running as the next head football coach at USC... Out of curiosity do all those copies of Andrew Cuomo's book that were printed but will never be sold count against his carbon footprint? What about Michele Obama's book Becoming? Think of all those dead trees killed for no good reason... Bait Collectors would be a good name for a redneck band...

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Flashback: When Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote to George Jones.

- Heh Heh

- Morgan Housel: A Few Short Stories

- Andrew Cuomo wants to force broadband companies to provide $15 Internet for low income households.  I'd question the legality of this and also the timing. Is this a useful distraction from the Me-Too allegations and the thousands of elderly nursing home deaths.

Cuomo Chart Show

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Theory I've heard a few times now - Governor Charlie Baker is waiting to fully open up Massachusetts until after Saint Patrick's Day because he doesn't want to risk drunken idiot super spreader events. My theory is Charlie Baker is waiting to open up the State because he doesn't own testicles... Andrew Cuomo's Covid-19 policies of putting infected people in nursing homes may have killed 5-times or more people than the number who died in the Twin Towers on September 11th. How is this not a bigger scandal?... For all the angst on the Left about orange man bad Donald Trump - you never hear anyone pining for Hillary Clinton do you? No "Hillary would have done this" or "Hillary would have done that." Isn't that weird? Or very telling?... Phrase of the day, "Drinking with Godot" - drinking while waiting for friends who may or may not arrive... Do you remember back in July when Andrew Cuomo said, "We now have people coming to New York, fleeing other states because it's the 'safe' state." Do you remember that? I do...

The Forgotten Political 11th Commandment

Ronald Reagan's famously had a Republican 11th Commandment. And while in the age of Trump this unwritten rule has completely fallen by the wayside on the Republican side of the aisle - I think we will really see it implode by the Democrats.

Joe Biden was a lame-duck the day he entered office. He has pledged not to run again in 2024 but even if he breaks that promise he'd wouldn't be viable (let's be real - many feel mentally he's not viable now never mind 4-years from now).

VP Kamala Harris is very unpopular. Her only hope is that her stature as VP combined with no other candidate emerging as the clear consensus will clear her path to the nomination in 2024. The Democratic machine will back her as the nominee under those circumstances.

Any tall poppy on the Democratic side will thus have to be brought down by leaks, rumors, innuendo, and smears. Which is why after months of silence I believe the media is now having open season on Andrew Cuomo and his handling of the Corona virus nursing home deaths. Governor Cuomo is a well-known name and therefor a threat to the VP. The sniping the next few years will be very entertaining.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

I wonder if the answer to the Patriots QB issue would be a simple one-for-one trade of Stephon Gilmore for Jimmy Garappolo?  Gilmore is one year removed from being the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year but also one year away from being a free agent looking for a big contract that New England won't be willing to give him. Jimmy G has long been a Belichick favorite and San Fran may be looking to get out of the big contract they signed him to... Funny but also true... Is there anything more sexy or feminine than a woman who uses scrunchies on her underarm hair? (Now that I've put that image into your head)... Funny but also true... Would be cool to see a GameStop version of It's a Wonderful Life with Citadel/Melvin Capital playing the role of Mr. Potter and the Reddit/WallStreetBets folks playing George Bailey... And speaking of GameStop - Mets owner Steve Cohen deletes his Twitter account due to GameStop backlash. This is so Mets...

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- NYC restaurant owners ban Andrew Cuomo. Restaurant owners in Mass should do the same to Charlie Baker.

- Physicists measure the shortest unit of time to date - just 247 zeptoseconds. That's the time it takes for a photon to cross a hydrogen molecule.

- Researchers have achieved sustained long-distance quantum teleportation. One of the fist steps in the future of computing.

- Multi-screening may mess with your memory. Multi-tasking is an awful habit.

- Found myself fascinated by this new car. But at about $200,000 I had no desire to own one or even drive one. (HT Execupundit)

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- New York City cannot rebound without Broadway. And Broadway's way back is uncertain. Conservative estimate is Fall of 2021. And I wouldn't hold your breath for any federal bailout out of Broadway because there are going to be so many other things with higher priority.

- SMIC shares sink, US ban worries cloud China's hope for chip self-sufficiency

- Naval Ravikant's book recommendation list

- China unveils global data security initiative, citing "bullying" by some nations. Going on past performance any nation who buys into this is beyond foolish. It is interesting as a benchmark of how worried China has become. The de-coupling is coming.

- I'm a sucker for a good political ad - and this is a good ad. EDIT: If you're interested in donating to Alek's campaign here's the link.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Would love to see Charlie Sheen take over the Ellen Show. That would be a train wreck worth tuning into... "We must love them both, those whose opinions we share and those whose opinions we reject." - Thomas Aquinas... Simple solution - the Democrats simply list their nominee for President on all ballots as just J. Biden and if elected Jill Biden (technically J. Biden) takes over the White House and Joe is put into a "home"... Bill DeBlasio threatens to lay off 22,000 city workers if Feds don't give NYC bailout money. Not to be outdone - Andrew Cuomo threatens to house the laid off workers in nursing homes if Feds don't give state bailout money... "Can someone explain to me the technical difference between anarchists and the mentally ill? Is it a branding thing?" - Scott Adams with a couple of excellent questions...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Tesla selects Texas as home to the next Gigafactory. After the Supreme Court ruling regarding Oklahoma I think this was basically a done deal. Won't be surprised if some manufacturing capacity is moved from California to Texas as well... "Invest the best hours of your day on the biggest opportunity, not the biggest problem." - Shane Parrish. Such great advice but at the same time so hard to do... US banks can now hold crypto-currencies. Why do I have the sneaking suspicion this actually makes things like Bitcoin less secure?... On the plus side NFL coaches wearing masks on the sidelines won't have to bother to hold up a call sheet to hide their lips from any lip readers anymore... Andrew Cuomo: "We now have people coming to New York, fleeing other states because it's the 'safe' state." I must admit that having recently re-watched the HBO Watchmen series I can't help but think of the Looking Glass scene where he reviews a NYC tourist commercial. Yeah nobody wants to go there right now... "More the knowledge lesser the ego, lesser the knowledge more the ego." - Albert Einstein...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneus thoughts and observations.

Just saying but if Governor Andrew Cuomo's disastrous COVID-19 policy of putting infected patients into nursing homes did cost 10,000 lives - that's well over three times the number of people who died in the Twin Towers on September 11th...  Prediction - any Power Five Conference college that does not allow football in the Fall of 2020 will have a new University President by the Spring of 2021... "To bankrupt a fool, give him information." - Nassim Taleb (note to self - never play poker with Nassim)... Disney World to reopen in mid-July but among other conditions they will require patrons to wear face masks. Little kids being forced to wear masks in the Orlando heat of July and August? No fucking thank you! Someone should start a DisneyWorldMeltdowns Twitter feed now. That or you'll see everyone pretty much ignore the rule after a week of operation. My money is on the latter... "Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts." - Richard Feynman. When this is all over I think the phrase "experts say" will be equated with "bullcrap"... In other space news Virgin Orbit had an "anomaly" on Monday's attempted launch. I'd rather have a delay...

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- How do you say "Redneck Wimbledon" in German?

- The Genie, the Bottle, and What's Next. Agree 100%. Ineffective middle management jobs may be hardest hit when this is all said and done.

- Why Two Decades of Pandemic Planning Failed. "The failure of the United States government to respond to the coronavirus was not a failure of foresight. It was a failure to create a coherent strategy and to provide clear lines of authority to implement it." Long read but worth it.

- This was elder abuse. Pure and simple - elder abuse!

- Scientists find a link between beef jerky and mania. So side effects of snapping into a Slim Jim could be mental illness? (Oh and the "link" is nitrates. Don't eat nitrates.)

- I think this is so cool. I could see myself living in a tiny home in the woods or on a lake.
