Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- SpaceX and the Sentient Sun. Like a condensed history of SpaceX and the possible future of SpaceX.

- Is there nothing he can't do?

- Brendan Sorsby saga abruptly ends. But is it really over?

- UFC boss Dana White, "I hate that kind of nonsense." There is a simple way to end this controversy.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- This may be the clearest sign yet the Obama's marriage is a total lie. Not one to dwell on the marriage of others but this is strange.

- Jared Isaacman: Introducing NASA Force.

- Evils apologists are always out there.

- What Dostoevsky understands about political rage. I admit that Russian literature has been a blind spot for me.

- Lawsuit contends that social media is a defective product. Social media platforms face lawsuit in California saying their algorithms cause mental illness. Could be a big story.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Now that it's officially fall - let me be the first to remind you that's there's now just 13 shopping weeks until Christmas... Actually surprised we haven't read about any UN translators having a stroke or nervous breakdown after trying to translate this speech... "Whoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god." - Aristotle. Given the choice between the two - I'm going to go ahead and say I'm a god then. Though to be fair to Aristotle - he was born before the printing press and mass production of beer. Give me a good book and a cold beer and I'm delighted in solitude... It's like the evolution of my punctuation over the last 5-years in one image. I feel so seen... Let me take this opportunity to announce I'm formally taking myself out of the running as the next head football coach at USC... Out of curiosity do all those copies of Andrew Cuomo's book that were printed but will never be sold count against his carbon footprint? What about Michele Obama's book Becoming? Think of all those dead trees killed for no good reason... Bait Collectors would be a good name for a redneck band...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

I still don't see why Michele Obama would agree to be on Joe Biden's ticket. Then again I didn't see why Tom Brady would want to play for any franchise other than the Patriots... This post on Things We're Missing sums up my feelings pretty well. Though in my own personal case I'd replace church with playing pool, seeing live music and golf (don't judge me)... "Sin that pays its way can travel freely, and without a passport; whereas Virtue, if a pauper, is stopped at all frontiers." - Herman Melville... Don't judge me... There's not much enthusiasm for Joe Biden and outside of Michele Obama there probably won't be much enthusiasm for whoever is picked as VP. None of the women who campaigned for President had much support (otherwise they wouldn't have lost to the desiccated husk of Biden to begin with). And Hillary? She would negatively impact his appeal. The only outside the box solution I can see is Tulsi Gabbard but the DNC would never allow that. The lack of enthusiasm could really harm the down-ticket Democrat candidates... The Irish have long memories...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Keep seeing the idea bounced around that Joe Biden should pick Michele Obama as his VP. Why in the world would Michele and Barack agree to that? They didn't want Joe to run in the first place... I laughed way too much at this... The Mike Pence v Michele Obama debates would be good fun though... "The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly." - Abraham Lincoln. Kept thinking about that quote when reading stories like the mother getting arrested for pushing her child on a swing... This is SPARTA!... Barack Obama has had to watch as Donald Trump dismantled his accomplishments. There's no way he'd allow his legacy to be further damaged by allowing Michele on Joe Biden' ticket. No way!... I'm the guy who every year posts the Bill Burr bit on the NFL Draft yet last night I watched the entire first round. Starving for sports and normalcy...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

In an effort to help explain local customs let me start by saying a man blowing his nose into his napkin is the universal non-verbal signal to the waitress that he is done with dinner and that the waitress may now clear his plate in New England... OK this was funny... If I owned an NFL or MLB team with a losing record I would put myself on the roster as the the third punter or seventh outfielder because why not? I don't think there's an actual rule against it. I'd pay myself millions too!... But this was even funnier... One of the great put-downs of all-time was by Ernest Hemingway in A Moveable Feast where he described writer Wyndham Lewis as having "the eyes of an unsuccessful rapist"... I have to agree with James Woods here. People who consistently go after Melania Trump say more about themselves than about the First Lady... If I wrote for SNL I'd do a sketch about the Ginger Network which would be a regular TV network but on which all the actors had red hair. You could have Ginger DiNero and Ginger Pacino doing the coffee scene from Heat. You could have Ginger Jimmy Stewart doing a scene from It's a Wonderful Life. Comedians doing impressions of actors while wearing red wigs - simple but still funny (at least to me),,,

Heroes Who Walk the Earth

Abdullah Shrim has helped free hundreds held by ISIS. You can't help but be full of admiration for this man. A man who risks his life doing what he think is right and what his conscience tells him he MUST do.
"But I think my life is worth nothing compared to a tear from the eye of a 12-year-old girl who has been raped." - Abdullah Shrim
ISIS must and will be destroyed. Our nation also must re-evaluate our relationship with Turkey who either is turning a blind eye to this human slavery or is assisting it.

The United States should be helping people like Abdullah Shrim. And our help MUST be much more tangible than pathetically frowning and holding signs.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Heh heh - good question.

- Theranos is to the medical device companies what Enron was to energy companies and Theranos fraud was basically exposed by one man.

- A cross country runner gets destroyed by a deer in the middle of a race. Once you see it in the back you will replay the video several times and each time say "WHOA!!"

- Heh heh

- Maybe the best Tweet in the history of Twitter

- Heh heh

- I think Tony Romo is nothing but class but this made me chuckle.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

If the Big East gets turned down by Boise State they should look to UMass. They already have pretty good hoops and are going to BCS level football. Plus they are actually in the East... Heh heh - science proves that some men maybe just can't help making promises to women they don't intend to keep in order to get a little something-something - it's in their nature or should I say it is Nature... How ironic would it be if Bobby Valentine took the Red Sox manager job and Terry Francona took the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball announcing job Bobby V would be leaving?... I can see how some people could go overboard with gold everything but I think these vans set up as traveling offices make tremendous sense. I would love to have one... At the beginning of Tim Tebow's FRS commercial he looks to be riding an escalator. What's up with that? Take the stairs you lazy bastard! You are supposed to be working out and setting an example... Interesting videos about Steve Jobs starting up NeXT. Like stepping into an IT world time machine... Who knew? According to Mental Floss: The Christmas classic "Do You Hear What I Hear?" was written in 1962 as a plea for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis... Sneak peak look at season two of Game of Thrones... I don't have a problem with NASCAR fans booing Michele Obama. Americans hate phonies. Does anyone really think Michele Obama likes NASCAR racing or was she just using the big crowd and TV audience for a politically motivated photo opportunity? Doesn't get much more phony than that... The recently deceased billionaire Ted Forstmann supposedly paid for Columbia Law School with gambling proceeds. I think that's very cool. Think Matt Damon in Rounders if he stayed in school... Speaking of very cool - Satellite Photos Show Ancient Saharan Fortresses of a Lost Empire... Call me old school but I think baseball should be played without the DH and condoms should be made out of lamb's intestines - just like God intended.

McCain's Baby Mama

Fox News is in hot water for referring Michele Obama as Barack's "Baby Mama". Lost in the kerfluffle is how much John McCain's wife Cindy looks like the star of the 2008 movie Baby Mama Amy Poehler.
