Saw the movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps and must say I liked it.
Prior to seeing the movie I was turned off by its retro feel and felt (wrongly) that they may be going for a prequel look to the MCU. But it is explained right at the beginning that this action was taking place in Earth 828 - a parallel world to ours. Once that bit of information was in place - the rest just fell into place.
Must say I was impressed by how they handled the character of Johnny Storm. He was not the daredevil knucklehead as he'd been portrayed elsewhere but a capable character that Reed Richards often automatically turned to.
Ben Grimm was also well portrayed. Often he was characterized as the physical equal of the Hulk but here he clearly had limitations. Well done overall.
A $7 bottle of water - that's another story.
