More Linky Links

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- How much a case of beer costs in each state. New you can use!

- Rachael Zegler got a social media handler - Gina Carano got fired. I'm on Team Carano 100%.

- Paul Graham - What to do.

- 7 Keys to not being poor any more. Most of them are common sense but often people need to hear them.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Curious to see if the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation retains its name after the divorce or if we get a separate  Bill Gates Foundation and Melinda Gates Foundation's going forward. It would be interesting to follow which foundation supports which charities...  Love this photo. In my mind I call it "Meanwhile in Biden's America" or alternatively "The Looming National Debt." Either one fits... Maybe it's still early or could be the pandemic or maybe a major switch to clear carbonated alcohol has significantly impacted the supply of summer shandy beers. I've yet to see a bar or restaurant carrying any and normally by now I'd be swimming in Del's Summer Shandy or Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy... Not for nothing but we still don't know specifically who ordered Gina Carano fired at Disney. That nobody has taken "credit" by now is a real indication that somebody messed up...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Think one of the major reasons the interest in the Grammys was so low (TV ratings half of what they were last year) is because nobody has seen any live music for over 12-months now. It is the concerts and seeing performances in person that drives interest in albums and artists. That was completely missing this year... Night Soil would be a hilarious name for a cover band that was intentionally bad. Very few would get the joke... No doubt in my mind whatsoever that the virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology... Correct me if I'm wrong but we still don't know the name of the Disney Executive who fired Gina Carano yet do we? Cowardice... UAW says Ford will move new production line out of Ohio and to Mexico instead. This will be interesting to watch. If Ford reverses course then it will be claimed as a victory for the Biden Administration. If the move to Mexico happens - the media will somehow try to blame Trump...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Disappointed its taking so long for season two of The Witcher to come out on Netflix...  I'm fascinated by the coming storm between Apple and Facebook. The plot of this tale has all the makings of a story told by Machiavelli... A very underrated movie is 1973's The Three Musketeers. Great cast and excellent dialogue and comedic hijinks. I was surprised to learn the screenplay was by George McDonald Fraser who is probably best known as the author of the Flashman series of books... This year for Lent I'll be giving up Stigmata. I hope to be Stigmata free for the next 40-days (starting Friday)... The Gina Carano firing remains in the news. Still don't know who pulled the trigger. "Lucasfilm executives" is pretty vague. If this was a 100% defensible move shouldn't someone be proud to take credit?  Am I the only one curious to know who's in the Disney Social Media Star Chamber?... Gamestop stock was at $49.51 this morning. Wonder if the short-sellers are still feeling the squeeze?...

Gina Carano

Bari Weiss: Gina Carano and Crowd-Sourced McCarthyism. Weiss writes "my baseline assumption is that 99 percent of cancellations are unwarranted." I think she's probably right.

I've followed the firing of Gina Carano but have yet to learn who at Disney authorized her termination. Something that has the capability of effecting subscriptions and quarterly revenues like this should warrant someone being held responsible. Right? Or if the move was morally defensible - shouldn't someone be taking credit for her departure?

The silence on that front is deafening. Isn't that something "journalists" should be inquiring about?
