Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Glenn Reynolds: Goodbye Dolly. There's the famous buoy marking the furthest point south in the US and the statue of Dolly may come to represent the furthest point on Earth closest to Heaven.

- Jonathan Turley: Clyburn calls for packing the court with "bakers dozen" to flip cases.

- Icelandic voters reject proposal to restart talks to join EU. Although think it should be pointed out there's roughly 48 US cities with greater populations than Iceland - just saying.

- How the strategic petroleum reserve works. With the news out of Venezuela thought this was a good refresher.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- NFL players continue push for grass field on heels of World Cup. Concert goers chewing up grass fields and that costs are the underlying issue. Owners don't want to reduce the revenue from those events.

- President Trump's Middle East pipeline wars. Not only has the US become energy independents under his leadership we have also physically come to control the low of oil worldwide.

- Tim Ferriss on Kevin Kelly and differentiation in the age of AI.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- A hundred robots are running a biolab. This seems to be the future of labs. You consult with a human but all the work wil be done by AI and robots.

- From the archives: The Winner's Edge.

- Iran's economy runs on oil and they are running out of runway.

- Anna Mara College to close after spring semester because of financial pressure. This one hits hard because it's local and well known to me.

- One Battle After Another wins Best Picture plus other Oscar winners.

- Strait of Hormuz planning was built in from the start. Of course it was - I'd be more surprised if it wasn't.

- Pokémon Go had players capturing more than they realized. Amused at the tactic but could turn scary if it was revealed it was AI's plan to get humans to work for it.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Factory built Lego-type homes. Still a fan of the low cost small homes available at places like Amazon.

- Massive Permian Oil Discovery. Gave me a better understanding of what this discovery really means.

- Russ Roberts: What should Jews do? More thoughts on "the Pattern." Clearly a subject he's thought a lot about.

- Greg Gutfeld on Scott Adams. Worth a read.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- World's largest oil producers by nation. Does it surprise you that the US is by far the biggest producer?

- Biden Administration tried to censor top Stanford doctor over Covid but he prevailed in the courts. But by the time he prevailed the damage was done.

- Tucker Carlson interviews Texas AG Ken Paxton in Episode 25

- Interesting post on How to Out Perform. The fishermen story leaves out the part where they use the cell phones to go to the markets with the best prices. (HT Steve Layman)

- Live by the Cloud - die by the Cloud. (HT Borepatch)

- Amused by people learning that shock-rocker Alice Cooper is at heart a conservative. Still say he should be the nation's poet laureate.

- The BRICS expansion in 4 charts. Ignore about 50% of the world's population and oil production at your own peril.

- VDH on the Biden family's con coming to an end.

Biden’s Secret Promise To OPEC Backfires

In 2020, Democrats blocked Trump's proposal to buy American oil at $24 a barrel. Yesterday, a Biden official disclosed a secret offer to buy OPEC+ oil at $80 a barrel. That offer was turned down and oil will soon be at $100 a barrel.

Michael Shellenberger continues to do yeoman's work on the energy sector and the politics involved. Kudos.

It can be argued that the single decision to block refilling the SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) at $24 a barrel will cost the Democrats both the House and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections. Wonder if Chuck Schumer is still crowing about that decision.

Oil Production by Country

2021 oil production by country. The US is both the largest oil producer and consumer in the world. There's no reason, in my opinion, for us to be importing oil from other counties (or at least outside North America).

Russian Oil

Russia is now exporting more oil than before they invaded Ukraine. The Ruble is also trading higher now. Those sanctions are doing wonders. Meanwhile the Biden Administration is begging for oil and our dollar is worth much less because of inflation caused by questionable policies. It's like 1976 all over again. (Graph via)
