More Linky Links

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Why the era of lawless leftist judges is likely ending soon. The Supreme Court needs to remind these District Judges they report to them and are not independent contractors.

- Whatever he learned in Southeast Asia, he brought back to LA. Recently read this book and been meaning to do a review.

- Alice Cooper on why Jeff Beck is the best guitar player. Of course Jimmi Hendrix said it was Chicago founder Terry Kath, (HT Newmark's Door)

- Peter Attia: Expanding the toolkit for acute pain.

Alice Cooper - Elected

Alice Cooper once again announces he's running for President in 2024. Compared to most of the field he's a young pup at 76-years old.

Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Live by the Cloud - die by the Cloud. (HT Borepatch)

- Amused by people learning that shock-rocker Alice Cooper is at heart a conservative. Still say he should be the nation's poet laureate.

- The BRICS expansion in 4 charts. Ignore about 50% of the world's population and oil production at your own peril.

- VDH on the Biden family's con coming to an end.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

When it comes to politics I consider myself a true independent and centrist. I know many on the right are upset with Fox News but not me because I don't watch any cable news. I am, however, disappointed in the erosion of the quality of discussion from National Review. Outside of when Victor Davis Hanson posts something - all the articles there have been pretty shoddy because hatred of Donald Trump has twisted both their hearts and their brains and made their "arguments" those of mewling quims...Have you ever heard a bad thing about Alice Cooper? Seems like such a good guy... The Boston Celtics traded Enes Kantor (who also seems like a nice guy) to Portland. I hope this move was made to make room for the return of Aron Baynes who is a free agent... Given how well Paul Krugman's other predictions have worked out - the economy is DOOMED!... People really need to be reminded that the average age for death in the US is 78. The average age of death from Covid-19 is also 78. Memento mori - we are supposed to be adults with free will not cowering sheep... I really laughed at this... Little known fact but Steven Jobs dying wish was to live to see a second Trump Presidential term...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Periodic reminder to Steelers fans - your team lost playoffs games to both Blake Bortles and Tim Tebow... Talk about being consistent... Every time I'm tempted to give a Nobel Prize winner too much credit I remind myself that former Enron adviser Paul Krugman won one for economics and that Yasser Arafat won a Nobel Peace Prize...  Heh heh - Run, Tommy Run... Still on the fence about President Trump but if he were to name Alice Cooper US Poet Laureate that might put me over the top...  Remember - until you pin me Festivus is not over!

Elected - Alice Cooper

For some reason I can't quite put my finger on - this song has been playing in my head today.

Alice Cooper

Yesterday was Alice Cooper's 70th birthday. He remains one of the most underrated recording artists of the past 50-years and Generation Landslide is one of his most underrated songs. Here's what I'd consider his Top 5 songs:

1. Under My Wheels
2. Only Women Bleed
3. No More Mr. Nice Guy
4. Elected
5. I'll Never Cry

Just missing the list Is It My Body and Generation Landslide.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

I was at the game in Miami this weekend where Tom Brady passed Dolphins legend Dan Marino on the all-time passing yards list. No public announcement was made. I thought that was very disrespectful to both players... Heh heh... With Bob Dylan being named a Nobel Prize winner in 2016 - can Alice Cooper being named US Poet Laureate in 2017 be far behind?... Size matters... When people ask me if I've seen Rogue One I always respond, "No - how does it compare to the original Spy Kids?" just to confuse people... Speaking of Tom Brady - good take on how Roger Goodell actually helped the Patriots by being such a jackhole... I would love if MLB would start referring to left-handed pitchers as "Left-wingers" and right-handed pitchers as "Right-wingers" just to mess with people...  How about "NO THANK YOU!"... I think the owl on Hooter's logo - one eye should be colored pink and the other brown. Who's with me?... Ummm...

Top 5 Songs with the Word "Under" in The Title

Top 5 songs with the word "under" in the title.

1. I've Got You Under My Skin - Frank Sinatra
2. Under My Thumb - Rolling Stones
3. Under My Wheels - Alice Cooper
4. Under Pressure - David Bowie and Queen
5. (tie) Under the Milky Way - The Church (tie) Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Didn't mean it this way but I think these songs are also ranked in the order they were released to the world.

EDIT: Donald rightly points out that Under the Boardwalk should be on the list. I 100% agree and would probably put it fourth and bump Under the Milky Way and Under the Bridge off the list. Under My Wheels stays at three because it's one of my Karaoke go to songs.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

When I hear Edward Norton narrating those DraftKings commercials - I always expect him to say, "I'm Jack's gambling habit"... Good to see some reporters learning from how the NFL blatantly used the press in Deflategate. Some others like Chris Mortensen and Peter King seem resigned to remaining NFL lapdogs... When are we going to see the "Hi I'm Peyton Manning and I'm Noodle Arm Peyton Manning and I have cable" DirecTV commercial?... Touching story from Joe Posnanski... If DraftKings spliced in quick-flash images of Tyler Durdin in their Edward Norton narrated commercials - then I would think about playing... The NFL's Pink October is just a scam.... Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper is a very under-rated rock song...

Boom Boom - Out Go the Lights

Was driving home the other night and scanning through the radio I came upon Pat Travers Boom Boom Out Go the Lights.

Always liked the song but I think this is the first time I ever really listened to the lyrics and realized he's talking about punching his girlfriend. Holy crap! And the crowd eats it up. Really was a eye opener. It also got me thinking about other songs about men hitting women.

Only Women Bleed - Alice Cooper

Better Man - Pearl Jam

Every Breath You Take - Police (maybe not about hitting but it is a serious stalker song some people use at weddings!)

Any others?

Election Day

I couldn't think of a more fitting song for the day than Alice Cooper's Elected.

I voted this morning. It took 29 minutes. How long you had to wait to vote is the new finding a great parking spot. Everyone I've seen talking about voting - the first thing they mention is how long it took.

By the way - Alice Cooper supports Mitt Romney. Go Romney 2012!!

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Happy Ice Cream for Breakfast Day! 15 offbeat holidays in February... Ernest Hemingway said the roar of a lion in the wild is first felt in the scrotum. The same is true of a Rob Gronkowski TD spike... Happy 64th birthday to Alice Cooper - one of the most under-rated rock stars in history. His music still stands up very well... Dan McLaughlin has some very eye-opening statistics on abortion. I was surprised by the numbers... Does any casino have a prop bet about the Giants defense faking an injury to slow down the Patriots no-huddle? The Giants have done it before - just saying...  According to some statistics I've seen there are 1.5 million fewer people working now than in January of 2009 and there are 13 million more people on food stamps in this country. Yet some would argue that we are heading in the right direction... Just 60 days until Opening Day... If God took a day off your life each time you masturbated - I would have been dead several years ago. Conversely if masturbating added a day to your life then I'm going to live to well past 100...
