Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

I like to think that those who follow me on Twitter or read my blog would never storm the Capital. We'd storm the Library of Congress (and sit quietly and peacefully reading for hours then leave at closing time after putting our books away)... Dura lex, sed lex. Agree 100%... Happily surprised to learn that Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) is still alive. Was sure he passed away a couple of years ago and couldn't understand why he was trending on Twitter... China blocks WHO from investigating origins of Covid-19. Because they know it came from the Wuhan lab and they also know they can get away with actions like this... As the playoffs begin this weekend a reminder that Tom Brady has 30 playoff victories. That's more then two thirds of NFL franchises have had in their entire existence. When Brady is done his record number of playoff wins is a record that will never be broken... On a related note - the way my brain works I can't help but wonder if the people investigating potential election fraud are the same people the NFL hired to "investigate" Deflategate...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

So Roger Goodell reportedly offered to let Tom Brady off for Deflategate if Brady agreed to throw McNally and Jastremski under the bus. Brady refused to ruin the lives of two innocent men. Fuck you Roger Goodell you are a despicable human... Very cool wildlife photos.... Is it just me or does it seem that CNN's Jim Acosta actually creates more content for Fox News than for his own network?... And speaking of Brady - today in an obvious attempt to troll the media President Trump will announce he's changing the name of the James Brady Press Briefing Room to the Tom Brady Press Briefing Room of Excellence in honor of Trump's favorite QB's birthday... New eye drops could repair corneas and make eye glasses a thing of the past... Can it be argued that e-evidence will follow existing extradition treaties? If so I'd look to countries that don't have extradition treaties with the US to become cloud service hotspots...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

This is cool... I think the expectations in Boston have become such that any Bruins season that ends before the anniversary of Bobby Orr flying through the air to beat St Louis in the Stanley Cup (May 5, 1970) is a disappointment. This season is no exception as the Bruins lost to Tampa Bay on May 6th... Interesting anti-aging news out of MIT... Peter King has recently revealed that he offered to resign at SI over his reporting on Deflategate. This is crap and was basically an empty gesture because King knew SI was never going to accept his resignation. If King was really angry or upset over his baseless defamation of the Patriots and Tom Brady he would have revealed the source that fed him such obvious lies. But King did not do that because he's a spineless coward... Another study confirms no impact on groundwater from fracking... Just saying but I really like the Celtics chances against the Cavs and LeBron James... Old digital copiers loaded with secrets...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

So Kyrie Irving wants to be traded out of Cleveland? Things are looking better and better for the Celtics... Not a good look for potential digital currencies... When I read that the last of the OJ defenders, F. Lee Bailey, was broke, disbarred and working in a hair salon my honest first thought was "That's nothing compared to the karma coming for those who defended Roger Goodell during Deflategate"... Family Guy's tribute to Adam West... I don't pay much attention to this Trump BS because I keep reminding myself that America could have had Mitt Romney as President right now but you people said no.... Awwww so cute... I want to claim that iceberg the size of Delaware as my own to open a casino and tax free haven... Michael Crichton was 100% right. In most cases it's not Fake News - it's incompetence... This is what a hero looks like... I too had a secret meeting with Don Trump Jr. but our meeting wasn't regarding Hillary. It was about Gary Johnson. I told Don Jr. I had proof that Gary Johnson used pot... Speaking of Gary Johnson. He makes a good argument on the environment and the things we should be doing...

Patriots Super Bowl Victors

Recently I wrote about how Pats fans were not all that worked up about the Atlanta Falcons. There's absolutely no rivalry there. In reality is pretty much the opposite. Matt Ryan is a Boston College icon and the Falcons front office is pretty much Patriots South. Playing and honestly all Pats fans just  assumed beating them wasn't personal just business.

The real rivalry was with Roger Goodell and the NFL. And a better Godfather quote to explain the situation was "today we settled all family business."

Robert Kraft said that this fifth Super Bowl victory was "extra special" and all Pats fans knew exactly what he mean although it's not clear if the doofus handing him the Lombardi Trophy had a clue. And speaking of Goodell - did anyone hear his speech in presenting the trophy to Kraft? I didn't and not just because I was drunk at the time but also because of all the boos drowning out what the ass-monkey was trying to articulate.

Pretty sure neither Tom Brady nor Bill Belichick heard Goodell's speech either. They were too busy talking and joking around in the background. No respect was shown to the Commissioner because no respect has been earned by the Ginger C*nt.

Upon receiving the Super Bowl MVP, Tom Brady may have had a subtle message for the Commissioner. Upon arriving back in Boston, Defensive Coordinator Matt Patricia had a much less subtle message for the team's feelings toward Goodell. And at today's victory parade don't be surprised if chants of "Goodell sucks!" and other forms of Goodell based bashing are commonplace.

Sunday night the Patriots settled all family business. All that's left is the gloating.

EDIT: Heh heh

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Just saying but the cure to the common cold and the answer to who let the dogs out are the two most enduring mysteries of our age... The great Sally Jenkins on DeflateGate II... I can't wait for Donald trump to name the Iron Sheik ambassador to Iran. It will break the Internet... A reminder of what Goodell said about deflated balls... There's a niche available for a magazine covering cool stuff and technology now that Boing Boing has abandoned those subjects in favor of Trump Derangement Syndrome... Thanks Obama!... Joe Biden just raised his speaking fees by 200% by intimating he'd run for President in 2020... I'm calling it right now - Tony Romo is the starting QB for the Miami Dolphins next season...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Tom Brady is going to spend at least part of his 4-game suspension supporting his alma mater Michigan. Hopefully he'll spend some of the rest of the 4 weeks suing the NFL for defamation and Roger Goodell personally for creating a hostile work environment... Things like this are a much greater threat to the Earth than climate change ever will be... Pet peeve - there's no such thing as "Defending Rookie of the Year". You can't "defend" that award as it is given by definition to a new player every year... Heh heh... If Donald Trump is elected President one of his first acts will be to have the Department of Education eliminate all spelling tests. Trump hates spelling...Wow - thanks a lot Canada!... Growing up Catholic if a priest kept a mass under an hour he was a good priest. If his mass was consistently under 45 minutes - he developed a cult following...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

The AFL-CIO, a group of 21 scientists and the New England Patriots all filed amicus briefs in support of Tom Brady. Filing in support of Roger Goodell and the NFL was the Church of Satan... Interesting - Epix will be producing a series based upon Elmore Leonard's Get Shorty. I'm guessing this is in part due to the success of the Elmore Leonard based series Justified... .. The Shakespearean phrase "I'll tickle your catastrophe" just tickles my fancy... TJ Miller and Stephen Tobolowski equals gold...  Mae West said it 100-years ago "Those who are offended easily should be offended more often" and it is still true today... Just saying but a belly-dancing class should be a great place to meet women. Chances are you'd be the only guy...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Don't want to comment on DeflateGate or listen to the pablum on sports talk radio. It all makes me ill.. Heh heh... The reason pay phones still exist is so people can use them to call people they don't like in the middle of the night just to wake them up anonymously... Classy move by the Reds... Another year and once again People Magazine has passed me by as their pick as The Sexiest Man Alive. One day they will learn the error of their ways... 10 things you might not know about Life Savers... If the Patriots don't pick a QB in the draft as insurance for Brady's 4-game suspension - I wouldn't be surprised if they brought Tim Tebow into camp. No - I am not kidding about this... Interesting - did the legendary embrace of Jackie Robinson by Pee Wee Reese ever actually happen?... So Mark Cuban says that Russell Westbrook is not a "superstar". Didn't he say the same thing about Steve Nash? How did that work out for Cuban?... Cool technology - replace your electrical outlets with a dual USB charger...

Top 5 - Things I Want to See in Boston Sports

If I had my way - here's the Top 5 things I'd like to see in Boston Sports (knowing that most of these might not happen):

1. I would have Tom Brady file both a $200 million defamation suit against Roger Goodell and the NFL AND file a $200 lawsuit against Roger Goodell personally for creating a Hostile Workplace.

2. Brad Stevens is half-way through his 6-year contract and I think it is time to extend him for another 4-years for a total of 10-years. A long term commitment to Stevens sends a message to both existing players and also to NBA free agents (the job Stevens does in Boston hasn't gone unnoticed by the players on other teams).

3.  Have the Patriots target free agent running back Matt Forte as a number one priority. I know the offensive line has to be the first problem to be addressed but Forte as a pass catching bruising running back would be such a great weapon in the New England offense.

4. Speaking of the offense line - bring back Dante Scarnecchia as the offensive line coach (looks like this is actually happening).

5. Move the Pawtucket Red Sox to Worcester.
