Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- Fan raised $43k to hand out "Stand With Hong Kong" t-shirts at Lakers home opener. Be interesting to see how the team handles this.
- Yes - this is true. I am lazy!
- CC Sabathia's Hall of Fame case. Was Sabathia better than Luis Tiant? Or Curt Schilling? Neither of those players are in the Hall of Fame.
- Cool science.
- The Trade War seems to be effecting the strength of the Chinese economy. As an aside I loved this quote from the article; "Authorities will loosen policies, but in a more restrained way." Loosening things through further restraint? That's the Chinese Communists for ya.
- South Park pokes fun at LeBron James for his China comments.
- Heh Heh

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- I'm a biased Red Sox fan but I think Luis Tiant belongs in the Hall of Fame. If Catfish Hunter is in el Tiante should be in too.
- Very cool. A ladybug taking flight.
- Army tests new super-soldier exoskeleton
- We will need these exoskeletons in the upcoming robot wars
- I've long been fascinated with "Rainbow Head Guy"
- Interesting court case to decide the privacy of the data on your cell phone (or connected device).
- Ben Franklin - the 13 necessary virtues. Good life advice then - good advice now.

- Interesting - MDMA (aka Ecstasy) may help eliminate PTSD
- Happy 56th wedding anniversary to el Tiante and his beautiful wife Maria
- The Deflategate Karma Police claim another victim - this time hypocrite Jerry Jones
- Heh heh
- Proof that Outside Magazine is just a shill mag for Big Wheel. Fire was robbed of the award - robbed I tell you!
- If this doesn't make you tear up - I'm not sure I want to know you

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Given Curt Schilling's views on evolution - I wonder if he thinks it was God's will his video game company went bankrupt too... There's Farmer's Markets where farmers sell their produce. Why not Hunter's Markets where hunters can sell their excess game meat like venison?... I've long said that JFK would not be welcome in today's Democrat Party... Happy 74th birthday to Red Sox favorite Luis Tiant. If Catfish Hunter is in the Hall of Fame then Looie should be too... Some cool homages to Arthur Conan Doyle in Sherlock.. Why do they say "hike" before snapping the ball in football? What are they "hiking"? Seriously this little language nugget is bugging me... Neil Gaiman talks about one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes of all-time... Oversized Load would make a great title for a biography of Peter North...

Flotsam and Jetsam
Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.
Love TJ Oshie for what he did in the shootout vs Russia. Love him even more for what he said about being a "hero"... Random thought - I still say Luis Tiant was better than Catfish Hunter but it is Hunter who was rewarded with a spot in the Hall of Fame... I have a soft spot in my heart for They Might Be Giants - especially for Birdhouse in Your Soul and the whole Flood album for that matter... When I see Vladimir Putin I can't help but think he's the real life character Karla out of all those John Le Carre novels... According to Ted Talks - the 100 websites you should know and use... I've said it before but John Travolta's best role may have been as the Boy in the Bubble. All downhill from there... PGA golfers Ricky Barnes and James Driscoll share what it was like golfing with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick... Patrick Swayze's Sex Pottery would be a good name for a band or a fantasy baseball team... Who knew? Great Britain won the Olympic Gold for hockey in the 1936 Winter Olympics... Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band play Highway to Hell in Perth, Australia... Funny to remember that Donald Trump blamed Derek Jeter breaking his ankle in the 2012 playoffs on karma because Jeter had just sold his apartment in Trump Towers...

Jack Morris vs Dave Stieb Hall of Fame Debate
Very interesting argument that Dave Stieb and not Jack Morris was the "best pitcher of the 80's." The argument that Jack Morris was the best pitcher of his era is what most of his apologists fall back on when Morris' pedestrian numbers are exposed.
I also agree that neither pitcher deserves enshrinement.
I will also add that Luis Tiant belongs in the Hall way before Jack Morris. Tiant had a 3.30 ERA to Morris' 3.90 and a 114 ERA+ to Morris' 105.

Luis Tiant
The Baseball Hall of Fame Veterans' Committee will announce their vote today and I hope Luis Tiant gets the nod but my guess would be that he doesn't. Garry Brown does a nice job stating the case for Tiant. I have always thought that Tiant was a better pitcher than Catfish Hunter and Hunter is in the Hall of Fame.
Tiant: 229-172 / 3.30 ERA / 2416 SO / 49 Shut Outs
Hunter: 224-166 / 3.26 ERA / 2012 SO / 42 Shut Outs
