Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The Cult of Elon is Cracking. The Atlantic starting to take shots because Musk isn't toeing the Progressive talking points. Sentence that stuck with me, "Sometimes it seems like smarter people are, the more vulnerable they are to overestimating how much they know about something outside their specialty." The author was talking about Musk but this sentence seems to be projection as it would fit perfectly with almost every "journalist" working today.

- Covid-19 not transmitted via swimming in pools, lakes, or the ocean. So open up the beaches and gyms already. I want to start swimming laps again!

- Georgia seems to be doing just fine after its re-opening. Other States should take note.

- Taking health advice from these folks may be problematic.

- So many Starlink satellites continues to be an issue for astronomers (and just people who enjoy the night sky)

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Cancer "vaccine" ready for human trials;
Of the 90 mice affected by lymphoma, 87 were cancer-free after the first treatment, and the last three were rid of cancer with a second injection.
- 1816 the year without a Summer

- I can tell you first hand - the lessons of Total Immersion really work! If you swim laps for exercise or relaxation this is a must read!

- Heh heh

- Tolstoy's 10 Rules for Life

- Google's Project Loon utilizes balloons to bring the Internet to remote areas. Meanwhile Elon Musk plans low Earth orbit satellites for broadband. This sort of reminds me of the story of NASA trying to develop a pen that would work in zero gravity while the Russians just went with pencils.

- The Celtics thinking behind the drafting of Brown and Tatum.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Congratulations to the Cubs and the City of Chicago. I have the feeling that this is just the first of a few Championships to come... I love this poker story... Jut a reminder - the Red Sox magic number is now 163... Any time I see Newt Gingrich - I try to picture him as Santa's gay half-brother to see if it makes him more likable... Some good tips for better swimming... Not only is Tom Brady 1st in quarterback rating, he's also tied for 11th in TD's despite missing the first 4 games... Pretty sure Rape Whistle would be a horrible name for a band or a coconut rum drink... Henry Miller's 11 Commandments of writing... First it was the Chippendale Dancers, then it was the Thunder Down Under, now it's MEAT RAFFLE!... Should the Jaguars hire Tom Coughlin? I say yes (or hire Josh McDaniels)... I think if Mel Gibson came out and endorsed Hillary Clinton then most of Hollywood would forgive him en masse...  Heh heh...
