Installation of the "Red Phone"
Today is the anniversary of the "red phone" which was installed in the White House and the Kremlin to enable better communication between the two nations in wake of the Cuban missile crisis. You have to wonder if it's been used since then? When's the last time it was tested? Do we know if it even still works or is necessary anymore?

Memorial Day Rememberances
Remember why we have the day:
- WW II veteran returns to Normandy beach.
- Anyone who has been to an American Legion has seen one of these tables.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- Three objects shot down after Chinese spy balloon may have been benign according to White House. It's a clown show.
- The booming market for backdoor Ozempic. People are taking the diabetes medicine for its side effect of weight loss. Problem is - if you stop taking it the weight comes right back. Oh there's also a risk of thyroid cancer.
- Novak Djokovic seeking special permission to enter US to play in tennis tournaments. He wants to come, the tournament organizers want him there, but our stupid Covid travel policies are keeping him out. Guessing this is something a bag full of cash to Hunter Biden could solve.

Flotsam and Jetsam
In the next day or two I guarantee that you will see graphics showing the members of the Kansas City Chiefs who say they will not be going to the White House. I also guarantee that people will then come up with new graphics that add either Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren to the people who will not be going to the White House... Heh Heh... "Choose the non-emotional response to any given situation and see how much easier your life becomes." - Excellent life advice from Naval Ravikant... Interesting long read from Outside - The FBI of the National Park Service. Kept thinking it could be called CSI: Yosemite instead... Another read worth your time is Tim Ferriss' latest blog post 11 Reasons Not to Become Famous which could easily have been called "The Dark Side of Fame." Makes you think twice about wanting to be famous (though I have nothing against still wanting to be rich)...

- Interesting - was the White House behind the leaks of Hillary using a private email server? Explains why the story went to the NYT instead of a right-leaning news outlet.
- Speaking of Obama - Bad Paintings of Barack Obama always brings a smile (hit refresh button for new paintings). This classic remains my favorite.
- The first cellphone went on sale 30-years ago today. At a price tag of $4,000 it was very much a status symbol. Makes me wonder if some douchebags used to have people call them while at a play or other public function just so people would notice that said douchebag had a "mobile" phone.
- I would agree 100% with Rob Bradford's assessment of the Red Sox 25-man roster.
- There are two sides to every story but this profile from a couple of years ago of the Dalai Lama doesn't paint a very pretty picture.
