At this point the White House Correspondents Dinner should just cease to be out of pure shame over how Russiagate has been handled. This, of course, would assume these folks had any shame to begin with... Sometimes there's little or no difference between physics and magic... Why hasn't Taylor Swift commented on the Mueller Report yet? What is she hiding?... Deep thoughts from Chris - could Dark Matter simply be the leftover quantum entanglements from the matter and anti-matter that was annihilated just after the Big Band?... Cult of Inhibitions - band name or all-inclusive singles resort?... I tried watching the new Amy Schumer Netflix special. I lasted just 15 minutes. It was awful. AWFUL!... What is Dark Matter? Even the best theories are crumbling. (Maybe that's because my hypothesis hasn't been tested yet!)

In the next 12 months this is a real possibility - President Donald Trump wins a Nobel Prize for bringing peace to Korea and the White House Correspondents Dinner ceases to be out of shame... I agree - they should also stop calling it the Nerd Prom. How many discussions on quantum biology or arguments on Gandalf and the eagles do you think were happening at those tables?... Wait - seriously? James Comey's brother Peter works for the Clinton Foundation's law firm DLA Piper? Talk about a conflict of interest... Heh heh - funny because it's true... After hiring Michele Wolf the White House correspondents really don't have any high ground to proclaim that Trump is lowering the level of political discourse in this country...  David Pastrnak is flat out good at hockey... Just saying but the motto of the Green Berets is "the Quiet Professionals". How many White House correspondents do you think could be described as "quiet professionals"? Also how many White House correspondents do you think served in the military? If any are able to check both boxes - what is the likelihood they wasted their time attending "Nerd Prom"?

Trump and Fake News Part 1

In the spirit that your gut reaction is normally correct - here's what my gut reaction is telling me about this current maelstrom.

BuzzFeed "published" a series of allegations that are most likely false. I say most likely because I'm guessing there are a few innocuous true things scattered among the lies. The allegations are nothing new - they had been circulating among the Washington media for months but were never brought up because nothing could be verified. Let that sink in - for months professional journalists had the opportunity to verify the allegations but they could not. Why weren't they verified? The Occam's razor explanation would be BECAUSE THEY JUST AREN'T TRUE!

And now any "journalist" that joined in on the Twitter Golden Shower joke fest yesterday has called into question not just their own professionalism and bias but also the credibility of whatever news organization employs them. There will be ramifications.

At the very least say goodbye to the "Nerd Prom". The White House Correspondent's Dinner should have been ended years ago. Now it is absolutely done. And if the correspondents decide to go it alone without the President? They'll just look petty and cruel - which may be what they are at their core anyway.

At the worst - President Trump may turn the White House Briefing Room back into a swimming pool.  If Trump decided to end the daily press briefings and pool reporters traveling with him wherever he goes - who could really blame him? The White House could simply rely on press releases and maybe a weekly YouTube video from The Donald. If criticized President Trump could say that by doing just official press releases he is trying to eliminate the fake news and slander that is rampant in the Washington press. "Don't blame me" he'll  say, "blame the fabulists at BuzzFeed and The Rolling Stone, and all the others who can't be trusted to report the truth."

You know that the Golden Shower jokes will not go away. And Trump will now get to play the wounded husband and father. "My wife and children have to read these lies!" Middle America will not just feel his embarrassment but will also root for him to get even. When history asks how Trump's second term was made possible - Golden Showergate will be the starting point.

Well I hope at least the white half of President Obama was out-raged on behalf of the black half of President Obama over last night's comments. (Actually I could care less)... The comments made last night that people should be outraged at was this one.. Remember these comments if President Trump comes to pass... Radical idea for the day - the NBA should cut it's regular season back by 16 games but then make the playoffs double elimination... Love that Tom Brady is hiring the best attorneys to fight this DefateGate BS...  Not for nothing but this weekend would be a good time to have a company that makes combo gas masks / bongs... The things that are coming and leaving Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Go in May... "It is what it is" - who said it? Bill Belichick or the Buddah... Heh heh - words by Donald Trump...

I've long held that the original purpose of the White House Correspondent's Dinner has long since been perverted beyond recognition. If I were President canceling my appearance at the dinner would be one of the first things I'd do... Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers at the Kentucky Derby... I hope Boston fans realize how lucky we are to get to watch Zdeno Charra... I agree 100% with Joe Posnaski with who the real villain was in A Few Good Men...  Look for many "Now It Can Be Told" books to come out from MSM types once President Obama leaves office... Classic - Emo Philips interviews himself... A friend listened to all of the secretly recorded Donald Sterling tapes and he says it boils down to Sterling asking his "girlfriend" not to sleep with Magic Johnson and to get him some soup... Oh how I would love to have Larry Ellison scale money... Red Auerbach won just a single NBA Coach of the Year and it was the season for which the Celtics were to win their 8th championship in 9 years....

Obama and the White House Correspondents Dinner

Given the rebuke and rebuff given President Obama and his policies this past Tuesday - I have to wonder what will happen during this year's White House Correspondent's Dinner? I have long held that Obama was:

Less Competent than Carter and More Paranoid than Nixon

Given that - will his skin be thick enough to endure a proper roast or will it be a milquetoast affair? Will Obama's people allow a Stephen Colbert-type roast or will it be a watered down Rich Little affair? Obama is ripe for the skewering but I don't think that will be allowed to happen. My prediction is that a mild-mannered comedian will be booked but that controversy will still exist as Obama lashes out at critics in a very un-Presidential manner.
