Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share,

- Daniele Bolelli: The Brilliant but Joyless Stoicism of Marcus Aurelius. I agree to a point. Meditations was a diary and as such was meant as booth a criticism and reminder to Marcus Aurelius and was never meant for a wider audience. Now his son Commodus on the other hand...

- Could school choice work on a federal level. Interesting idea about giving school choice payments to members of the military and those on Indian Reservations.

- Do your job: The Art of Winning. Already have the book on my reading list.

- Glow in the dark bunnies - coming to a store near you. Sorry but getting more of an Island of Dr Moreau feel to this than the warm and fuzzies.

School Choice

Never understood the argument that school choice would be the death of public schools. If that were true wouldn't that mean that if parents were given a choice - none would send their kids willingly to public schools? Isn't that indictment on the quality of the education? Wouldn't competition force the public schools to improve their game and insure a better quality of teachers?

I've already said I'm for school choice. You don't have to sell it to me. (Meme via)

The Best Argument for School Vouchers or School Choice

If Catholic Schools were a state - they would be the highest rated state in the country when it comes to school test scores. Across the board. Who wouldn't want their child to receive the best education? Fund students - not schools! (Via)

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- West Virginia implements the most expansive school choice program in the country. Good for West Virginia! It will be interesting to see how this program effects state standardized test score. (HT Instapundit)

- Personal data from over 500 million Facebook users leaked online. Why anyone is still on Facebook is beyond me.

- Why is Africa the global COVID "Cold Spot" and why are we afraid to talk about it?  When science isn't politically correct it becomes cancelled.

Some stuff I found interesting and wanted to share.

- Eric McErlain supports the troops and thinks the IOC is a bunch of tossers. I agree with both positions.

- Weapon of Choice - one of the best music videos ever! Christopher Walken 2012!

- Bugs and Cranks have 4 things about baseball that gets under their skin. I'll agree with pitch counts and Hall of Fame voting.

- Central Fall RI to fire every high school teacher. To which I say - Good! The school is among the worst in the state with the current teachers - how worse can they be with a new crop or just rehiring the teachers who want to be there? The union overplayed their hand badly. I think we'll start to see more examples of this hubris on the part of the teachers unions and the taxpayers sick of footing the bill.

Some stuff I found interesting.

- Interview with Mike Lowell who brings up the interesting point that a HGH test that was 99% accurate would still lead to 7 false positives among major league players.

- It really looks like a shake-down attempt on Randy Moss. I hope his attorneys go on the counter-offensive and go after this seemingly slimeball attorney.

- Interesting look at school choice and where it stands in the country. I had not considered how the closing of Catholic schools due to the cash crunch caused by the priest sex scandals had harmed school vouchers before. Long article but very informative.

- Interesting look at the people who set the Vegas lines and their thoughts on the BCS:
“We laugh a little,” White says. “You just have to make a line on Hawaii and Georgia. The whole time you’re thinking, why are these two teams playing?”
