Where the Slaves Were Actually Shipped from Africa

Notice the small amount that was actually shipped to the colonies. Yet white guilt seems to belong only to Americans.

War and Food

Arabs fear for wheat supplies after Russia invades Ukraine. There will be bread riots in the Middle East and Africa. And don't forget China who has trouble feeding itself as well.

This is a chance for America to deploy some food diplomacy. We are the world's breadbasket. Just converting the corn used to make Ethanol back to food for human beings, starving human beings, could make a big difference. And we should make that pivot from biofuels back to food permanent.

Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- And the entire continent of Africa is not a small sample size either.

- China's Microsoft hack may have had a bigger purpose than just spying. We keep seeing stories like this yet so many remain in denial that China is not our friend. (HT Stephen Landry)

- One of my favorite Elon Musk Tweets

- Fresh insights into the growing home garden trend. When I was growing up it seemed half of the homes in my neighborhood grew tomatoes and other vegetables. Now I'd be curious on the percentage of homes that grew tomatoes vs legal marijuana plants?

- The Locker Room. Interesting take on culture and competition in the investment world.

More Linky Links

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- West Virginia implements the most expansive school choice program in the country. Good for West Virginia! It will be interesting to see how this program effects state standardized test score. (HT Instapundit)

- Personal data from over 500 million Facebook users leaked online. Why anyone is still on Facebook is beyond me.

- Why is Africa the global COVID "Cold Spot" and why are we afraid to talk about it?  When science isn't politically correct it becomes cancelled.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Heh heh - Joe Biden: "I'm just like you regular folk. I put my pants on one arm at a time",,, A blonde is a blonde. A brunette is a brunette. A redhead is a redhead. So what do you call a woman with black hair? She's not a "black" and definitely not a "blackhead." And don't come at me with raven because that's a bird or a pro football player from Baltimore... Ron Rivera is a good man. He'll make someone an excellent coach next year with the team with the most obvious need for someone like Rivera being the Cleveland Browns... It has to be said that the world has really gone to hell since the passing of Abe Vigoda. Was he some sort of sentinel guarding the gates of chaos or something?... This is an interesting map. Islam is losing its grip on Northern Africa. Also interesting is in these sorts of graphs red is generally bad and green generally good. Were the map makers trying to insinuate that religion on a whole is bad?... As a rule I don't judge people but I will judge you if you play Hotel California on a digital jukebox that has access to thousands of other songs. And my verdict won't be kind...
