Baseball Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous baseball thoughts and observations (I haven't done one of these in a while).

Earlier I had explained my reasoning for rooting for the Yankees to win the World Series (or the Dodgers) but that doesn't stop me from also rooting for questions about the Yankees picking up Gary Sheffield's contract to become a major distraction and maybe setting off some roid rage by Sheffield... Speaking of Sheffield - excellent point by Jason Stark:

And the thought of Gary Sheffield playing first base while Wang is busy throwing 23 ground balls in Game 1 ought to terrify anybody who has dared to pick this team.

While we are talking about the Yankees - how about A-Rod being demoted to 6th in the line-up? Just saying but Manny Ramirez would never be demoted to 6th in the line-up... I'm not making any picks on the baseball playoffs because all of the series could really go either way. That should make for some exciting baseball. Let's hope we're not disappointed...
