Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Minnesota as a systems failure: How NGO's process dissent until reality no longer matters (but the tax dollars do).

- Sadly true!

- Is NY fraud 10x worse than Minnesota's? We're just seeing the tip of the iceberg aren't we?

- Anthony Bourdain's favorite sandwich. I'll have to give this a try.

Anthony Bourdain Would Have Turned 67 Today

In the US, today is rightly known as Bourdain Day. It is the anniversary of his birth. In his honor here is an interview he gave in 2016. Also here's another quote to leave you with. Be sure to raise a glass to his memory:

"I should have died in my 20's. I became successful in my 40's. I became a dad in my 50's. I feel like I've stolen a car - a really nice car - and I keep looking in the rearview for the flashing lights. But there's been nothing yet," - Anthony Bourdain

Memento mori. But don't forget to raise a glass. That's what he would have wanted. (Via)

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- What it was like to eat with Anthony Bourdain (from the archives).

- Gambling revenue in Macau - was this drop due to Covid (Las Vegas recovered) or due to economic changes in China?

- Morgan Housel: The luckier you are - the nicer you should be.

- Is the collapse of RSN's a problem or opportunity for MLB? Article misses one of the biggest issues - for years teams like the Yankees and Red Sox squeezed the cable companies to get top dollar for their games. When streaming became the norm the cable companies turned around and said you can't offer a streaming service at a price below what we pay per sub. That's in part how you wind up with NESN streaming (Red Sox and Bruins) at a monthly cost of $29.99. Who wants to pay that?

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Remembering  Anthony Bourdain

- Today's must read is Darryl Cooper (Martyr Made) explaining his viral Twitter thread that was read on air by Tucker Carlson and referenced at CPAC by President Trump. Interesting to note that it appeared on Glenn Greenwald's Substack. To quote a lyric, "There's something happening here, what it is is not exactly clear."

- Heh Heh

- Understanding Quantum Mechanics. (Posting this so I can come back until I've watched all the videos.)

- VDH: Trump Winds and Biden Whirlwinds. Karma is a bitch.

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Facebook just banned news in Australia - all news. Pure hubris. Related. I seriously don't understand why people are still on Facebook.

- What it was like to eat with Anthony Bourdain

Covid-19 deaths in the US - who has died.

- Trust but verify the science. "It is not expert opinion that matters most in science; it is evidence." Amused that many who espouse "follow the science" as a mantra also somehow also believe in Socialism. (HT Execupundit).

Bourdain Day

Today would have been Anthony Bourdain's birthday. Raise a glass to his memory. I may watch a few episodes of No Reservations later today.
