Thousands of autonomous delivery robots about to descend on US college campuses. (Starship Technologies announces an expansion of its robot delivery service after raising $40 million.)
So each of these robot delivery vehicles can go a max of 4 MPH. And if the pizza place is 2 miles away and it takes a half-hour to cook your order then the hungry student would be waiting a full hour (at best) to get their pizza? NOT GOING TO WORK.
A human on a bike or in a car can go much faster. Duh!
You're in your dorm room with friends and everyone else orders food which will be delivered by humans while you order something that's delivered by Starship robots. Your friends will be full and putting away their leftovers when your food arrives. You'll be too angry at having to watch your friends eat while having waited for YOUR food to be delivered to enjoy it when it arrives. Next time do you think you order something delivered by the robot again?
Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
