Tesla's Amazing Advertising Strategy

Tesla hasn't spent a dime on paid advertising yet outperforms every car maker in the world. The prime exhibit for their success is the above graph where they saw orders for their cars spike the day after the Super Bowl. A Super Bowl that saw a number of competing EV manufacturers touting their products only to have viewers say, "Nah - gonna buy a Tesla instead." Amazing!

Maybe the Most Amazing Thing About Tesla

This always amazes me. Tesla has gotten to be the market leader with ZERO advertising. Keep this in mind when reading negative reviews of Tesla in print formats. Those outlets aren't receiving any money from Tesla but they are from the competition.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Reminder that it's been 18 months and not only has no evidence of bat to human transmission been discovered - the "wet markets" in Wuhan are still open and operating. The disease came from a lab... Business idea - make the plants marijuana and sell hundreds of these at Phish concerts... A local Dunkin Donuts in Rutland, MA has been closed for 3-weeks because they can't find enough employees willing to work. This is not good. That is not good at all... Kind of admire the evil genius of this ad... Fair is fair - it is rumored that Apple is looking at getting into the EV car game so why shouldn't Tesla get into the browser and operating system game? Tesla could even just buy Duck Duck Go at this point, come out with their own operating system and launch a line of smart phones. You know there are millions of people who would buy a Tesla phone sight unseen...

The 70's Were a Different Time

Can you imagine an ad like this today in the era of #MeToo? I can't imagine anyone wearing those pants today either.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

People keep wondering if Donald Trump would run as a Third-Party candidate but the real question people should be asking is if Bernie Sanders would run as a Third-Party candidate... Why there should be no deal with Iran... Praise the Lord! I've now been stigmata free for over 40-years!... When asked to name their favorite movies people rarely list The Princess Bride but when reminded almost all add the classic to their list...  Interesting look at Notre Dame football... As a reminder of how important air pressure is to the "integrity" of  NFL games - the NFL has yet to issue teams their new pressure gauges... 15 facts about daddy longlegs. Missing is the fact that if you kill one you will cause it to rain... If the ads for Hai Karate cologne were true then I when was young I would have spent all my energy beating off the advances of swarms of women - instead I just beat off. There's no truth in advertising...

Delta Drops Daily Show

I read this about Delta dropping out from advertising on The Daily Show because of an offensive "vagina manger" skit.

The skit may have been over the line and I do agree that if they had tried to place an image of Muhammad in place of the manger - then it would have been censored - but I think the reason Delta decided to stop advertising on the show is more simple. The target audience of The Daily Show is not really the target audience for Delta. How many college students or slackers buy airline tickets? Not many. This viewpoint also explains why Kellogg's isn't dropping their advertising over the "vagina manger". What percentage of The Daily Show's audience buy boxes of cereal? Pretty much all of them.

I'm guessing that The Daily Show isn't too worked up abut losing Delta Airlines - Ramen Noodles has probably been waiting in line for some time.
