Peggy Noonan points out that Condoleeza Rice now holds the position first occupied in this country by Thomas Jefferson (our first Secretary of State). That's just incredible when you stop and think about it... So the Marlins are interested in Al Leiter. That makes a lot of sense in that he would replace the exiting Carl Pavano at a reasonable rate ($7 million for one year). For his career Leiter is 22-9 with a 2.77 ERA in 38 starts at Pro Player Stadium...
