Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

According to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo - Oil Can Boyd will most likely play for Ottawa in the Can-Am League. That means there's a good chance I'll get to see him if he pitches against the Tornadoes in Worcester... In 1933, on this day, FDR signed a law which once again legalized the selling of beer and wine. I think I'll go out today and celebrate that fact... With Aaron Boone's heart ailment - does that open the door for a trade between Houston and the A's for Bobby Crosby?... Twenty years ago to the very day - Clint Malarchuck almost bled to death on the ice after having his throat slit by a skate while playing goalie for the Sabers. This was second only to Daryl Stingley being paralyzed as far as scary things to happen during a game in my opinion... My understanding is that the Red Sox released catcher Josh Bard both to give him a chance to catch on with another team and because George Kottaras is out of options and the Red Sox would either have to keep Kottaras on the big league roster or risk losing him through waivers...
