China accidently sparks "doomsday prepper" frenzy after telling residents to stockpile food.
By telling people to stockpile food for the winter the CCP official accidently sparked rumors of; an impending invasion of Taiwan, an upcoming new COVID-related lockdown, an admission by officials that the economy has issues and there simply may not be enough food.
I've long suspected the Chinese economy was much weaker than expected and not having enough food for the people would be proof of that assertion. If the winter comes and goes without an invasion or lockdown - wouldn't that also be proof that it was the economy that was the danger being warned about?
