The Great Barrington Declaration One Year On

The scientists and medical professionals who crafted and signed the Great Barrington Declaration were right a year ago and they are still right today.

I supported the Great Barrington Declaration then and I support it today. Lockdowns were a mistake then and they are an even bigger mistake today. Any physician who supports lockdowns is violating their Hippocratic Oath.

It has always seemed to me that those who supported lockdowns fell into three basic categories; opinion makers who are older or in the most vulnerable categories when it came to the virus (they were acting out of fear), those who have autocratic tendencies (people must listen to me!), and sheep (because they're sheep).

Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Noah Smith: Losing sight of the Future. Noah misses the mark - the main reason for the apparent pessimism about the future is the media who only pushes negative story lines. "Doom scrolling" as Tim Ferriss puts it. AOC says the world will end in 12-years because of climate change and she gets max play in the news. CRT pushes that everything in America is racist and if you disagree you're a racists and also banned on the social media platforms. Etc, etc.

- In October 2020 the Great Barrington Declaration was released. Over 50,000 scientists and healthcare professionals signed it (listen to the science - remember) yet the Declaration and signers were mocked by the media (not refuted - mocked). Read it today and it's just common sense - just as it was in October 2020..

- Cool - The Louvre's entire collection is now online. I added the link to my sidebar so I can check the Louvre on a regular basis. (HT Steven Landry)

- Good review of the Supreme Court's ruling against the NCAA and what it may mean.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Am I wrong or is the new plan to pull the troops out of Afghanistan before the troops are pulled out of Washington DC? That's pretty messed up and it's like nobody's paying attention... The Great Barrington Declaration and Ad Hominem Augmentation. True - if they had a case to make they would instead they attack the signers... Remember a few years ago when Coors released a new drink - Coors Light Iced Tea but nobody in marketing thought through the acronym (CLIT)? "Hey guys let's go out and grab some CLIT" - you don't see that product advertised anymore (for some reason)... Unpopular Opinion: I see people talking about getting the vaccine and being relieved that they can now spend time with their family, friends and loved ones again. Truth is you could have been doing that all along... Not a soccer fan but I understand the outrage over the new proposed Super League. As a way to confront that threat to history and tradition I offer a simple recommendation: any player under contract to any team in the Super League would not be eligible for a World Cup roster. You could easily get Britain and Scotland to support such a measure and I'm guessing Spain and Germany would come on board as well. That would take the steam out of the Super League from the get go...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

50,000 medical and public health scientists and practitioners have signed the Great Barrington Declaration. Aren't we supposed to be listening to the scientists?... Heh Heh... You know what's a cool nickname that deserves to be brought back - the name Speed. You never hear anyone called Speed anymore... Funny because it's true!... Weed and Hot Sauce would be a good name for a band... President Trump got a big ovation at the Army/Navy game yesterday... The differences between generations - growing up COD meant "cash on delivery" but now it means Call of Duty. Also back then LBJ was a President not a basketball player. Now get off my lawn... So Elon Musk announces his move to Texas and now Oracle has announced they are moving their HQ from California to Austin. California is quickly going to run out of other people's money... Also funny because it's true...

May we never again take for granted:

As much an argument against Big Government as it is an argument against Big Tech

I might choose this as my "last meal"

- I support the Great Barrington Declaration. The author of this article does not. Some of the criticisms are valid but please note that through the criticisms, snark and what we should have dones - there doesn't seem to be any proposed solutions to the problem. Everybody's a fucking critic.
