Scott Cooper

Ten years ago on this date - the Red Sox' Scott Cooper hit for the cycle. Cooper took over third base for the departed Wade Boggs a year before and made the 1993 All-Star team. He would also go on to make the All-Star team in 1994 too.

Cooper making the All-Star team underscores how weak the AL was in third basemen at the time. Take a look at his numbers for those years. You would have to combine the numbers from both years to equal the numbers from the All-Star third baseman from either league today.
