What Happened to the 12-Team College Playoff?

Pete Thamel looks into what is delaying the adoption of a 12-team college football playoff (instead of today's 4-team playoff).

I think nothing would get a 12-team playoff adopted faster than an undefeated BYU and Cincinnati making the playoff this year. Can you imagine how upset the Big Ten, Pac 12, and ACC will be if all three are shut out from the playoffs (and playoff dollars)? This is also a reasonable outcome. Clemson will probable win the ACC and they have 2 losses. Ohio State will probably win the  Big Ten and they have a loss to Oregon. Nobody in the Pac 12 is undefeated and none more worthy than any of the teams mentioned above.

If a one-loss team does make the playoff it will probably be the loser of the eventual Alabama-Georgia SEC Championship game. The loser of that game would still be the second best team in the country.
