21 Funny Books

Michael Wade has a list of 21 funny books. I've read 6 of the books and that doesn't count Catcher in the Rye which I've started twice but have never been able to get into (the main character was too unlikeable).

Was also not a fan of Dog of the South but humor is subjective. Going to add A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby and The Secret of Santa Vittoria by Robert Crichton to my ever increasing book wish list.

EDIT: Crap! Robert Crichton - not Michael Crichton

As a child, I read Catcher in the Rye and naively thought it was deep and cool. Having attempted to re-read it as an adult, I quickly realized it was garbage and worth my precious time.

  3. Never saw the reason for all the praise for that book. Literally unreadable for me. (You results may vary.)

  4. You tease me with the prospect of a work by Michael Crichton I hadn't already read.

  5. That's exactly why I added it to my list.

  6. Chris,

One correction: The Secret of Santa Vittoria was written by Robert Crichton, not Michael.

And don't miss The Price You Pay by Aiden Truhen.

  7. Michael - thanks for the correction. Michael Crichton started off as a screenwriter (Andromeda Strain, Great Train Robbery, etc) so I thought I may have missed a book that way.

And will also add The Price You Pay to my reading list.

Thanks for the correction and more importantly - thanks for putting the list together.
