Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Leadership lessons from the Army-Navy game. I highly recommend everyone attending this game at least once in their lives.

VDH: The evaporation of the Obama mystique.

- Its time to break up big medicine. I'd also institute price transparency where providers have to publish costs so patients can shop based upon quality or price. More doctors and nurses and fewer administrators and lawyers.

- I'm sold on Pete Hegseth too. No better friend - no worse enemy should be America's slogan throughout the world.

- Assad's fall has humiliated Washington, "Syrians are free of Assad despite the Biden administration, not because of it."

- Ryan Holiday's best books of 2024. I'm a sucker for book lists. (HT Steve Layman)

Bill Belichick's Success and George Halas

If the New England Patriots beat the Chicago Bears tonight in Foxboro, Bill Belichick will move past George Halas into second place in all-time wins by a head coach with 325. It's certainly fitting that this could happen against Chicago - the place where Halas remains a legend.

Mike Reiss has a nice piece on how Belichick and Halas are more similar than meets the eye.

Meanwhile The Daily Coach looks at the two qualities Belichick possesses that any great leader must have.

A Trust Urban Myer Can't Earn Back

Michael Lombardi on Urban Myer's breach of trust and failure in leadership.

"The players don't trust the coach, the coach don't trust the players," - Urban Myer last year in words which could equally describe his current situation.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Interesting insights into Xi Jinping and the workings of Communist China. The article states that "propaganda is the 'lifeblood' of the party state" which to me just seems evil. The author also seems a fan of Xi Jinping because (in my words) "he gets the trains to run on time." It is important to understand the arguments of the other side - but the arguments presented here are filled with obvious holes and inconsistencies.

- The Biden corruption scandal isn't about Hunter, it's about Joe. So true. Biden makes Spiro Agnew look like a piker.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- VDH on name-changing and statue toppling. I remember a couple of decades ago being surprised that Fort Bragg was actually named after a Confederate General. It never seemed appropriate to me but VDH is probably right in that any changes should wait for a bit.

- Three indicted for throwing Molotov cocktails at NYPD vehicles face life in prison. Good!

- Why Officer Derek Chauvin may be acquitted of murder in the case of George Floyd's death. Makes a compelling case though I fear if Officer Chauvin is not convicted of at least manslaughter we may see another round of riots.
