Texas Infield

Texas signed SS Michael Young to a 4-year $10 million contract (with a team option for a fifth year). The Rangers now have perhaps the best young infield in baseball with Teixeira at first, Soriano at second, Young at short and Blalock at third. The Rangers have both Young and Blalock signed long term (Blalock signed thru 2008 with a 2009 option). Teixeira and Soriano are still arbitration eligible - so barring a trade - this infield should be together for some time to come.

Young is a natural second baseman - so it will be interesting to see if maybe Soriano is dangled to teams either mid-season or after the World Series.
