Bringing Back the Draft - Scare Tactic

I'm surprised that the "if Bush is re-elected the Republicans will bring back the draft" scare tactic has gotten some college age students rattled. It's patently untrue.

Nobody wants to bring back the draft except people like Charlie Rangel who wants to use it as a wedge issue. The Republicans would never vote for it, the Armed Services don't want it (the all volunteer model has worked to the point that we have the best trained military in our history - why would they want to screw that up with people who don't want to be there?), hell even 90% of Democrats would never vote for a draft.

I guess as a scare tactic it's better than "if Bush is re-elected he's going to outlaw abortion". Maybe that's the next scare tactic to be played. Maybe with the Republican's giving Pro-choice people like Rudy Giuliani and Arnold such prominent roles at the RNC - the DNC knows that won't play.
